I have the Aston Satseeker DS200 and it works with both Optical pots and Hall and of course Reed.

Hall got more pulses per move than Reed. It's not good trying to find the +5V line, you could fry the sensor.

The one on the right is the higher quality model as you can see it has a real limit switcher and metal backplate. The cheaper one have cheap plastic limits with a plastic backplate and a real cheap plastic cable connector, also the cable insert on the cheap one does not have a proper cable...
