ESPN Thursday Night Football Blackout or mistake?

This is bull. I've never heard of an ESPN Thur. night game being shown on a local channel or being blacked out. Most likely a Dish SNAFU.

Football Tailgate Help With Required Equipment

If you see a DirecTV installer at the gas station or getting lunch somewhere ask him/her if they have any older dishes. Many times when they install a new service, an older dish will first be removed and they end up in a pile out behind the garage.

Football Tailgate Help With Required Equipment

You need a phase 3 18"x20" dish with a slimline 3 LNB. This will get you HD. Here is my rig - put it together for about $85. http://www.dbstalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19800&d=1254164428 matt9876 is the guru on this setup. Lots of info in this thread. Experimental Small...

    New KA/KU Dish?

Problem is, at least on my setup, the distance from the location of the original holes to where it would be flush is less than the diameter of the hole. So I'd end up with the 2 holes overlapping a tiny bit, and for that reason it may not be a secure connection. Thanks for the diagram on the...

    New KA/KU Dish?

Hey Matt, using avk2's photos can you tell me where to place the small self-tapping screws if the LNB is fully inserted? I don't want to be drilling on that unit where I shouldn't be. Thanks!

    Help with Tailgate Set-up

Matt, Thanks for that pic. Is that the regular arm that comes w/ the Ph. III? I assume this will pick up all the HD channels (or at leat the ones we'd need at a tailgate - locals/ESPN/sportspack etc.). Do you know where to get the specs on that mounting rig? Thanks again!

    Help with Tailgate Set-up

Since this seems to be the hot topic for tailgating talk, I'll jump in with another question. What are folks going HD using for a stand? I've got my trusty Winegard tripod, but I'm beginning to think it is not rugged enough. First problem I encountered was the mast is only 1.6" dia. and the...

Need advice to get set up for tailgating

Thanks your harshness. Dude on eBay is selling one "brand new" but mentions a 2 yr. commitment might be involved. hmmmm. If I lease one from D* I wonder if they'll have heartburn when I cut it off after football season.

Need advice to get set up for tailgating

Hello, We are looking to go HD at our tailgate this fall. What is the best/cheapest way to get a D* HD receiver? What model should I look for - dont need OTA as our market just went HD. Is there any complication getting one on eBay? Will use my account since we live in town, but I...

    Question about an XM Program

We were listening to XM Outlaw Country last night and really enjoyed Roger Alan Wade's show with Johnny Knoxville. He is on again at midnight tonight. Will it be a repeat? How to tell? It was the show honoring the 1982 Knoxville Worlds Fair. Thanks

    Bell 6100 Receiver Question

Since the canam implosion I've packed away my 6100, but a thought just occurred. Can the 6100 be used as a standalone ATSC (OTA) tuner without the sat connection?

DIY Dish Pointing - How difficult?

Not an installer but this has worked for me. It all starts with the mast...if it is not plumb you're needle/haystack. If your mast is plumb, adjust the skew to your assigned setting and you're down to one variable. Swing the dish around the mast to the approximate azimuth direction until you...

    R.I.P. Mitch Mitchell

Interesting that the most famous guitar player of all time was an American but broke out with English bandmates and management. I was about 9 when my friend's teenage brother played us "Are You Experienced", and it blew me away. As it did the 1st time I heard "Electric Ladyland"...shortly...
