    Directv deals for existing customer?

I get very annoyed with service providers that offer better rates to new customers than they do to long time existing customers. As a potential new customer, I see how I will be treated once the honeymoon is over and much my business and loyalty means to them, not much. The cost of...

Great thread! Very helpful information for those of us that have not made the switch yet. Thanks! :up

    Whole Home DVR Issue

Thanks schneid. I agree, especially with your last paragraph. That is the plan that I am working on right now, less the surround sound wiring. I am an old school, vintage actually, 2-channel stereo guy. I can do the home theatre surround sound wiring later when the time comes.

    Whole Home DVR Issue

OK, thanks wild bill 129! After more reading I was beginning to feel more comfortable with my suspicions. Thanks to your explanation, I get it now. DirecTV makes the whole-home DVR system simple and uncomplicated to install thanks to DECA. The simplicity of it all is a beautiful thing...

    Whole Home DVR Issue

This has caught my attention and I am now somewhat confused. I am reading, and reading, and reading... prior to installing a new structured wiring system in my home. Once that is in place I will order Dish equipment and service with HD whole home DVR service, etc. What caught my attention...

Point me in the right direction?

Excellent! Thanks Iceberg! I don't recognize "CW" as a station that I have been able to get on Comcrap cable but I will be sure to see what it is all about before long. The other channels that you list I do recognize as being the locals. Some are available to me as OTA with a small antenna...

Point me in the right direction?

OK, Thanks JD! I think that I am good to go with being able to see the satellites. The 72.5W satellite is a close call but I will be able to just see over a tree for a few more years at least. It can be trimmed when necessary, or sooner when we have some other tree trimming done by a...

Point me in the right direction?

First off, sorry if this is yet another one of those newbie questions that has been asked and answered a thousand times. I have tried to do my homework but I am not sure that I have the right answer yet. I was just about to pull the plug on Comcast (can't wait to fire them!) and go with Dish...

    Power inserter questions ??

I can't help you with the power inserter issue but I do have one of those electric chain saws on a stick and a telescoping manual pruning shears/saw thing that you can use if you need them. The other B....

Newb questions on Dish Network service.

This is another informative and very helpful thread Mongo53. Thanks everyone for the excellent information and advice! :up Many people will benefit from this thread now and in the future.

    Newb Satellite Question

As a relatively Newb as well, I have had many of the very same questions as Mongo53 has. We also share the same reasons for switching to Satellite TV, the burning desire to fire Comcast. (The reasons for that would fill another thread - and there are no surprises as to why.) I may be just a...

    Getting Frustrated as heck

Check the basics things first. Since I have no idea how much experience you have with OTA antennas bear with me while I offer a few suggestions about common problems and misunderstandings about them. Keep in mind that the larger the antenna the MORE directional it is. That means that you...
