Best way to clean Von Weise acme screw.

Yea, totally agree. The rust pits will eat away at the nylon nut. I'll see if I can order a brass nut to Canada. I don't have lathe but I'll ask around to see if someone I know knows someone that knows someone that has one.

Best way to clean Von Weise acme screw.

I managed to clean the acme screw quite well using fine write brush on a bench grinder and I removed as much rust as possible on the inner tube. I also cleaned the nylon nut to remove some of the rust dust... and then screwed in the screw making sure to apply an even coat of lithium grease over...

Best way to clean Von Weise acme screw.

I have an angle grinder with write brushes so I'll give it a try... As for the nylon nut, it's hard to say since I don't know if it's normal to have "some" play. I'll try to measure the forward/backward play.

Best way to clean Von Weise acme screw.

Hi All, As mentioned in another thread, I got myself a nice Perfect10 10ft dish and along with it came an old Von Weise V76-5 actuator. I've cleaned the inner tube a bit with steel wool but there are still some areas with bumpy rust. The acme screw also has some rust but I haven't tried to...

    Identify dish and lnbf...

Hi All, So I went to get the 10ft dish this morning. The dish seems in good condition except for the rusty mount. Only 1 screw broke off... There was a few spots where the mesh was coming out (the screw wasn't holding it anymore), so he gave me an extra panel for spare mesh triangles. The guy...

    Identify dish and lnbf...

The only bummer thing in all this is that for years I was looking at internet/local classified ads for BUDs. Then, last month i said screw it and ordered a Tek2000 8ft. And *now* I find these! I'll be bringing home two... a 7.5' and 10'. I'll fix up mounts and replace my 8' next year with the...

    Identify dish and lnbf...

Thanks. It indeed looks like a Perfect 10 mount. Once in my garage, I'll try to remove all the rust and add a few coat of paint on it. The feedhorn looks like a Chaparral Polarotor... I assume I'd need to get an ASC1 to control it? I don't know what's the actual C/KU LNBs...

    Identify dish and lnbf...

Hi All, Can someone identify this dish and lnbf? I'm going to pick it up in a few weeks. Thanks, Steph

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

Thanks. I just measured mine they are 44" from bend to bend so it would make sense that they aren't installed on the rim. I must have messed up my hole position yesterday when I went from my temporary leg tying (using aluminium wire). I went from a total of 29 TP found on the 14th to 15 today...

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

FTA4PA, can I ask you for a favor? Can you measure your Tek2000 8ft LNB support legs? I see that yours were mounted on the panel rim, while mine didn't have any holes on the rim but there were some about 5" inside. Using these didn't get good result so I located them 7" inside which seem to have...

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

Just a quick update. After I found the 87W satellite, I spend the rest of the evening programming my vbox. Looks like my arc is from 43.1W to 116.8. I might be able to touch a few more eastern birds once I readjust my east-limit on my actuator. West-wise, I think my house is in the way. All...

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

Ok, so it turns out my true-south was bad. I moved it by reference to where I think it should be and now I'm getting feeds without TEI errors from 87W. Attached is the result of my first blindscan from 87W. Can someone have a look and report if it's "ok" for an 8ft? I'm located in the greater...

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

Well, first attempt at finding a satellite wasn't much of a success. Without knowing where I'm pointing, the highest TP I could find was 4040 H 34286 and 4100 V 30000... possibly on 91W? I attached screenshots of EBSPro's BS Mode and SA. TSReader just gives TEI errors... Tried pulling the...

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

Ok, so using washers, the closest I could get to my declination angle was less than .5 of a degree. Is that ok or do I need to be dead on? I also did the string test and my panels are pretty flush (the strings were touching, but not pulling/pushing against each other). Time for some simple...

First time installing C-Band dish (8ft)

Thanks FTA4PA for the warm welcome. I was thinking of using washers as well... my only issue was once all installed and during the tweaking phase, it'd be a real pain to adjust the declination. As long as I get a detectable lump on EBSPro's RF Scan, i'll be happy. I have a C1-PLL (bought years...
