DISH CES Press Conference Announcements

All your doing is putting all of that content into one app in turn that content is already on the device. People will continue to use Hulu, Neflix and Watch ESPN apps. They are not going to pay 20 bucks just to have the ability to see that content within a single app considering that its only a few clicks away on their device allready. .
Some wont, but some will. My wife would be far more open to this idea than dropping pay tv and going net only, even if we can already get most of this content with other means
And its far easier for kids to learn as well.

The one stream will be the limiting factor more than anything IMO.

Edit: People will continue to use Hulu and Netflix whether they use this or not, as they compliment each other.

"Flat Design" has nothing to do with the physical shape of the product. It is a type of UI.

Think of the blocky, mono-colored, two-dimensional look of the Windows 8 Metro screen. For some reason that I cannot fathom, Apple, Google, and just about every other SW maker is switching over to this fugly, simplistic, throwback to DOS CGA graphics like Lemmings over a cliff into the sea.
I know that I was talking about the menu screen shot in the right hand bottom corner of the Joey 4k flyer. I am talking about the UI not the physical product itself.

also can you ask them why they have wrong guide data in several cities including the home of CES- Las Vegas and what they will do to fix them and when?

If Dish was worried about OTA content they would still have the OTA tuner in the receiver, as it is now an addon, I imagine very few actually buy it as Dish has the main channel on the sats and those have guide info.

Right, but the other issue on hand will be the broadband caps. This may push service providers to actually enforce caps. That's really the big elephant in the room. In a world with no caps, I could see an OTT service working really well and everything delivered via IP, but that isnt the world we live in.

I wish AT&T would one day inform me what my actual usage was so a Cap would make the least bit of sense.

Good stuff.
I think the 4k is nice but not that big of a deal with the limited video streams available. But, the ability to have 2 simultaneous HD PIP streams will get a lot of use (the sports fans should really like it).

I like the new simplified remote and will probably do some upgrading to get one.

The whole home streaming is the sleeper that may be the best of all the new features. I have a Sonos system controlled by smartphone and tablet apps that is similar. The ability to stream multiple audio streams, splitting out or grouping speakers playing the various streams in various locations is nothing short of spectacular. We find ourselves simultaneously streaming web music, local radio news, and our iTunes and PC music archives and regrouping speakers to each of our interests as we occupy different areas of the house. Never thought I would like and use it so much since I am not a big music fan.

I wonder what the "Melbourne" remote is, mentioned in the Joey4K's spec under remote compatibility.
Can "Perth," "Adelaide," "Canberra," and "Hobart" be far behind? I guess if they ever wanted another marsupial they could come out with a Possum to hook up to your Hopper and Joey.
