TLC from Welcome Pak?

Let’s keep in mind that this channel is leaving the Welcome Pack but not the others. Dish is simply replacing it with another channel.
Considering the number of Channel Groups that were removed, it must be leaving some other packages, unless there are that many different versions of Welcome Pack.

While there are some shows we watch on The Weather Channel from time to time, I hope Dish at least provides a similar channel like WeatherNation, channel 215, if Dish removes it out of the Welcome Pack. Dish could try its on weather channel again.

TLC has become that same level of crap, so garbage in, garbage out.

It’s obvious that this doesn’t affect you, but I’m sure there are a lot of people out there that got the Welcome Pack because it included TLC. To suddenly pull the channel isn’t right to those subscribers. I realize that Dish can change channel lineups at will.. but I’m sure there are people that won’t be happy. My wife watches TLC all the time, so if I had this package, I guarantee you that the word Dish would be followed by a few expletives in this household for awhile.

Or they could at least give the Local Now app its own dedicated linear channel, like they did temporarily in markets that were affected by the CBS dispute. Local Now includes forecasts from The Weather Channel, which is all most people want from Weather Channel anyway.

Its still in the Flex pack.

I do believe that the removal of channels from Welcome Pack is an effort by Dish to get more subscribers to upgrade to Flex Pack. When Flex Pack was first launched, I immediately noticed that it includes a pretty complete collection of channels that I used to be able to get at no additional cost with Welcome Pack. Some of those channels were actually in Welcome Pack (AMC), some were "accidentally" left in free preview for several months (FXX, National Geographic, Weather Nation, HD Net Movies), some were account-specific glitches. (I had one Welcome Pack account that got TNT, and another Welcome Pack account that got HLN, but neither account got both.) Finally, there was a package where I could go up just one level and get all of those channels back, which is why I upgraded to Flex Pack. Apparently, not enough other Welcome Pack subscribers did the same, so now Dish is making more changes. I have said before that once my price-lock and autopay discount expire, I would seriously consider dropping back down to Welcome Pack to save money. However, with the changes Dish has made so far this year, they are making it harder to do that.

Yeah, not a good swap in my opinion.

I guess I haven't really paid much attention to the TLC programming line-up recently. After taking a look a this weeks TLC schedule, IMHO, HMM for TLC is not such a bad deal. It seems as though TLC basically consists of shows about really tall people, really short people, really obese people, people with deformities, oh, and a show called Dr Pimple Popper. It's basically a carny sideshow.

Part of the reason for the change may have been how frequently Hallmark Movies and Mysteries is featured in free preview. Perhaps Dish was getting tired of Welcome Pack subscribers complaining, "Why can't you just leave this channel in our package all of the time?" So Dish's reply is, "Okay, we can do that, but we will have to remove TLC so that your package price will remain the same." Kind of funny timing, considering that there was just a price increase, though.

Yeah, but the alternate explanations are funnier. ;) :biggrin

As long as I can watch the “Do You Poop Enough” infomercial as often as I want, I’m good.
