Google in discussions with Dish to launch new wireless giant

Hmmm. My favorite doughnut is the beignet, but only in New Orleans. Then, Tastee Donut, also only in the New Orleans area.

THEN I like Krispy Kreme, especially when hot.

Don’t care for Dunkin Doughnuts at all. Don’t like cake doughnuts.

None of which are wireless. The doughnuts, that is!

But how old is Charlie? He might want to sell off Dish and retire. He is 68.

Donuts are pure sugar or carbs. Both are going to kill you.

I don't say no to many donuts (and have the spare tire to prove it) ;)

That said, these are my favorites: Duck Donuts | Warm, Delicious & Made-to-Order Donuts

Tell me that's not true! While dissing Krispy Kreme, I admitted to myself that they were actually better than the rock bottom worst most greasy and disgusting donuts that I have ever had the misfortune to try. They were made fresh in the morning and I bought them in Duck, NC right after they opened. :eeek Neither my wife nor I could choke down a 2nd.

This reminds me of another controversy we had in The Pub... Do you like Blue Bell ice cream?

I've never had them in Duck proper, but the stores I've been to in Durham and Cary don't make particularly greasy donuts. They are fresh-fried while you wait, so I guess there is a higher risk of something going wrong, unlike how KK fries theirs on an assembly line. Also, if you don't eat them warm, they might seem greasy I guess. I'm a sucker for their maple bacon donut. Not sure if I've ever had Blue Bell, but I really like ice cream, so probably.

Wow, we really have outdone ourselves on the OT discussion this time.

I've had Blue Bell, and it's nothing worse nor better than any other standard ice cream I've had. I don't get the hype.

Nothing better than Breyers Natural Vanilla, however.

Argh! You are demolishing my appetite. :crying

Well, since I am already down that road, my favorite donuts of all time were plain cake donuts that my dad used to get from the local bakery in Oneonta, NY in the late 70s/early 80s. I have no idea what they did to them, but I've never had something so simple taste so good.

I'm more of a sherbet person myself, and my all-time favorite (RIP), was Baskin Robbins Rock 'n Pop Swirl sherbet. Grape and lime swirled sherbet with pop rocks in it.

Staying firmly off-topic, the best Ice Cream I've ever had is actually a tie between:

Tropical Dreams: Tropical Dreams Ice Cream
Orkney: Orkney – A dreamy taste of reality

Sadly for my tastebuds and thankfully for my arteries, I can get neither on a regular basis. I expect to get some Tropical Dreams in September when go to the Big Island.

Edit: Best local Ice Cream: Howling Cow
When I worked at NCSU's Centennial Campus, it was a daily struggle to not go get some Howling Cow.

Continuing off topic to flat out off roading...

another one of my favorites was Edy's White Out. About 20 years ago, during the internet bubble, there was an explosion of ice cream with dozens of flavors in the dairy case. After the fall, Edy's got bought out. RIP most of the flavors.

You can find people trying to reproduce your favorites recipes on line. Way more obsessed than I am.

Furthering: When I was a kid back in the 50s I loved going to Save-On Drugs to get their Rocky Road. It was soooooo good! Rocky Road is still my favorite flavor ice cream.

Now there's a brand I too loved back in the 50's and 60's. Of course they got bought out and the ice cream is no more. Do any drug stores have an ice cream bar these days? :(
