These stations are from the Twin Cities if you didn’t know, and even though DirecTV hasn’t dropped WUCW yet, it looks like they most likely will. So even if I was out of contract I’m out of luck if I decided to switch to DirecTV. I will stay “moved” though as I get the rest of my “moved” locals from the Twin Cities and the SV locals from Mankato, MN plus I can still watch my true locals OTA.

If Charlie is in charge doing a potential merger, disputes will be worse as customers can’t as easily flip flop to the other satellite company.

I don't think you can really say Dish is worse for disputes any more. AT&T is telling investors they are going to aggressively fight to keep retransmission fees down and disputes would be likely.

That inserted clip during Warren Schlichting's local channel update of the Fox executives talking about projections of adding a billion (that's billion with a b) in re-transmission revenues is truly scary indeed :eeek

In the short term, though, it would help eliminate disputes, since the merged company could simply keep whichever contract has the longest expiration date. When the contracts do eventually expire, the combined company (Dishrectv) would still have more subscribers than either individual company currently has, which would give Dishrectv more negotiating leverage.
