Lifting a 10' BUD into place question

When I put my dish up (also a 10 footer) I took the mount off the dish and put it on the pole. I had a friend help me lean the dish up against the pole carefully. I climbed a stepladder behind the pole. Then I had the friend lift the dish from below as I guided it from a stepladder behind the...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

Yes, I am most likely going to do the same with my dish. Cables and turnbuckles. Thanx for the photos. My avatar is a photo of my dish. Today I did turn the dish on the pole a little and re-peaked it. I did gain some signal on all satellites.

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

I did tweak the dish a bit too. I now get clean scans on all transponders. Before I had several fail. But, I still have breakups on a few channels. Also found a new channel. called THIStv NETWORK. Could it be my LNB? It is an old one and it is 45 degree. The signal; quality is bouncing all over...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

Well, those are the numbers from the info screen.....I just did another scan HQ105 (NASA HD) Channel HQ 105 Transponder 4000/H/28111 PID V 82/ A 83[Dolby D]/ P 82 Signal intensity 83% Signal Quality 71% On my last scan, those were the numbers I posted in my last post. I just deleted...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

OK, I have a 10 foot button hook dish. I just ran fishing line across the face in perpendicular directions and find that the lines cross about 3/8" from each other. I computed the focal depth and corrected where the feed was set. I got a boost in signal by doing this. On NASA HD channel I get...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

I tried both frequencies and symbol rates and still got nothing. Signal level was also non-existent. Others give me signal 85% with quality 45 with some 83% and 71 quality. This is with my dish peaked on the sat.

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

OK, I just did something different. Before i was quoting signal levels found in the motor setup menu item. I went to the TP list and my signal levels are up to 87% with quality at about 78%. So, I guess my dish is not as bad as I thought it was. I am scanning on AMC 3 now at 87 degrees. I find...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

OK, so I guess I am going to check everything on my dish. Check for warpage, make sure the focal length is correct and that the LNB is aimed right at the center of the dish. I have even thought about stabilizing the feedhorn by installing cables and turnbuckles. I am sure that, with levels at...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

I got my RS-1933 yesterday and I have been able to play with it some. I have found and added a few more satellites using it. I find that my 922 tells me that I have a signal level of 90-100 but the RS-1933 never shows more than 45%. I do have a good picture on the channels it finds. I will have...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

I replaced my KU band LNB today. I am still searching for satellites. I found 2 today but I am not sure which ones they are. One is more to the west and has Documentary TV and Mnet. These are the only 2 channels I find on it. Saved as G0 but i am not sure if that is right...... I still have had...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

I placed my order for the RS-1933 on Saturday morning. I see that my card still has not been charged and when I tried calling Skyvision, I got a message that the office is currently closed. Do they have odd days off???? Are they currently shipping these receivers? I replaced my KU band LNB...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

Will these changes talked about be available to people who buy before you implement them? I have an order placed for one right now. I can't wait to get my hands on it! I do have a couple of questions: 1) I have a 10 foot mesh dish with a dual LNB feedhorn that I will be using. I imagine i will...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

Well, I ordered the Manhattan RS-1933 receiver. I am picking up a brand new KU band LNB from the guy I got the dish from for $40 bucks. It is a .7 db. I looked on Skyvision but they say that they do not have them for available for shipping and will put you on a shipping list......And I don't see...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

I am still learning. I have a dual feedhorn on the 10 foot dish. The KU LNB is bad and will have to be replaced. I was told it was hit by lightning. Do I use the KU band LNB on this dish or is it best to get a 90cm dish? I do know that the dish needs to be in perfect tune to use KU. I never had...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

I got it working. Thanks for all the info guys! I had to unplug the 922 and plug it back in. This got rid of the wierd color pattern on my screen on X4. After that I saw what was on each channel with a message that I needed a subscription to view. When I called for programming we had to do a...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

Thanks, guys! I was told by the satellite guy that the dish came from a nearby location so I should not have to set the declination. He told me to set the angle of the dish (with the actuator) to 16 degrees for C3. Then to rotate the mount on the pole until I picked up CSPAN on channel 7 on C3...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

Well, Skyvision's chart shows X4 as the same as G4 (Galaxy 16). I am fishing around in the dark here. So, thanx for telling me this info and giving me nothing more, Johnny. I went a bit west from G4 until I got a DC lite. I peaked it to get signal at 100 and quality at 95. I have a DC lite so...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

Nevermind........I found CSPAN on channel 7 on satellite C3. I also have found some programming on G16 at channel 16 & 17. I have X4 programmed in (same position as G16) but I have no DC green lite to show a lock. Is this because I have not called for programming yet? It appears all set because...

setting up used dish - no signal-cant find sats

I also posted this on my connecting 922 thread. I thought I had best start a new thread since the hookup is good. OK, I have the 922 all hooked up. The actuator moves the dish, the polarizer/servo motor works, the counter counts up and down as I move the dish. So I am sure I have it all...

    922 connections to actuator

OK, I have the 922 all hooked up. The actuator moves the dish, the ploarizer/servo motor works, the counter counts up and down as I move the dish. So I am sure I have it all hooked up correctly. I put the dish angle at 74 degrees on my protractor for C3 (translates to 16 degrees). I spin the...

    922 connections to actuator

Thanks, Larry. I think I have it figured out now. All I have to do now is wait for it to cool down some. Too hot to work in the sun now. The guy I got it from put the 922 on C3. He told me that the angle on the face of the dish will be 16 degrees when on C3. SO I will use a dish mover to move...

    922 connections to actuator

I just bought a used 10 mesh dish. The actuator was bad so the guy gave me a new one. It is a SuperTrack II+HQ. I am confused by the connections. The actuator connections are labeled: MOTOR (I understand these 2), SENSOR(there are 2 sensor terminals), WHITE, GREEN, GRAY, WHITE. I am not sure...

    antenna element lengths?

Well, it is less directional now with the shortened elements. The formerly long back elements were mangled from the crash so my "butcher job" was worth a try. They were not usable as is. Before my modification, I had to turn the antenna to get each station. Now I can leave it in one position and...

    antenna element lengths?

I have an old Channel Master TV antenna that got blown down and the elements damaged. After I canceled cable TV (expensive!!!!) I decided to put up what was left of the antenna. Basically the UHF portion of it was undamaged. It is a fringe area antenna. It seemed to be VERY directional in a...
