Ordering DirecTV this Summer, help please!!

I don't think you'll have to pay the fee to get media streaming and Direct2PC on a new install. I got the Media Streaming automatically just by hooking the setup into my network. I haven't tried the Direct2PC, but I assume it works the same. I don't know about the security camera, but if...

Ordering DirecTV this Summer, help please!!

Basically, all of your HD receivers (including the DVRs) are networked together so that you can watch any of the recorded programs on any of the receivers. It's $3/month, but you still have to pay the $5/month/receiver for each box after the first one. The savings would come from the up front...

    Just ordered HR24

To be honest, I've not noticed any sound at all. Guess that means it's pretty quiet.

    DECA and MRV setup

I didn't sign up for MRV prior to install, so it wasn't fully set up. Plus, it was still a beta release at the time, so I'm not sure he knew about needing the adapter and couldn't test it since I hadn't decided to sign up for MRV. He did give me his cell phone number and was more than happy to...

MRV and DECA are now Live Nationwide

No, the HR24 has the DECA built in. In my setup, I have two HR24s and only need one total adapter for the router into the splitter. No adapters on either HR24.

MRV and DECA are now Live Nationwide

Correct. In fact, if you connect a live Ethernet connection to the Ethernet port on the HR24, DECA will not work and you can't do MRV via coax. To get MRV and the Internet connection, you need to use a DECA adapter to get the Ethernet connection live on the loop (hooked straight to the...

    HR24 vs. VIP722

The guide seems fairly similar to me, but I'm not a guide aficionado. I don't use the category sorting or anything like that, just use it to scan through channels to see what's on. Both have the ability to jump forward, the HR24 uses a 12 hour jump while the 722 is a day. It's basically been...

    HR24 vs. VIP722

I'm using 2 HR24 DVRs, so not sure how it works with the H24. On the HR24, the list shows all of the programs that are recorded on either box and each is controlled with it's own remote.

    HR24 vs. VIP722

I switched from Dish to Direct on Monday and was given two HR24s for my setup. Previously, I had a VIP 722 that I used for over 2 years. I have to say that I was a little concerned about moving to a Direct DVR after hearing that Dish's boxes were so much better, but now I'm wondering if that...

MRV and DECA are now Live Nationwide

When you are using the DECA on the HR24, the Ethernet port is disabled. I had a hard time getting MRV working because I had the Ethernet cable plugged into the port on the box. The DECA is built in, but you have to use a DECA adapter to get the internet connected to the loop.

    DECA and MRV setup

I got it figured out. I'm running two HR24s, which have DECA built in, but it is not active if an Ethernet cable is plugged into the Ethernet port. I unplugged the Ethernet cable and restarted the box and it's working now. The downside to this is now I don't have a network connection. I...

    DECA and MRV setup

That's the problem, it's not showing up. I have programs recorded on both DVRs and can't see the others in either DVR list.

    DECA and MRV setup

Does anyone know what the DECA/SWM setup should look like? The installer tlold me he had this thing all set up and I'd just need to activate MRV, which I did this afternoon. I have two HR24s and I see in the menu that it is activated on both receivers, but neither can see the other box. In...

MRV and DECA are now Live Nationwide

I wasn't sure I wanted MRV when they installed mine on Monday, but have decided to go ahead and sign up. Just activated it on my account online as the installer said it's all set up and just needs activation. Will I need to do anything special on the boxes to get this to work? Do I need to...

    As a Top Tier Customer.......

Really? I just switched from Dish to Direct and got one HD DVR free and the second for $99. I was even able to configure that on the website without talking to anyone.

    Installer is here

Thanks, did that before the installer came. Actually had some issues with registering online due to an old account being linked, but DirecTv support managed to get it worked out and were ready with some bill credits if they couldn't get it done in time. Overall, great customer service.

    Just ordered HR24

Just an update after using this thing for a few hours. So far, it doesn't seem a whole lot slower than my E* 722. Changing channels takes a while to bring the picture up, but it's not noticeably slower and the info is there right away. Browsing the menus seems to be on par with the 722 and...

    Installer is here

I'm in Denver, which is probably why I got them. They also installed all of the needed equipment for MRV, even though I didn't order it. Said he had it so might as well put it in so that all I have to do is call to add the $3 charge to my account.

    Just ordered HR24

I guess that will be me. I just got two HR24s installed as part of a new install. Don't have any old boxes to compare them to, so won't be much help in the speed comparison department. I didn't sign up for MRV, but the installer installed all of the MRV equipment so all I have to do is call...

    Installer is here

He's finishing up, but I'm the proud new owner (or leaser, I suppose) of two HR24s. Once he has the signal up and running and I have some time to play with them, I'll post my thoughts compared to the Dish 722. Let me know if you have anything you want me to check out. I don't have an older D*...

    Installer is here

I bit the bullet and ordered D* with two HD-DVRs. The installer is here taking down the E* dish and putting the D* dish up. Haven't seen which DVRs I'm getting yet, but any tips/tricks for a new D* subscriber?

    Thinking about the switch

That's probably true if you're comparing exact to exact, but in my case D* is cheaper. I have a few requirements and getting Vs. in HD is one of them (need the NHL). Direct has Vs. in their mid-tier package and Dish doesn't, so I'd be forced into the 250 pack on Dish that includes a bunch of...

    Thinking about the switch

I finally decided to go ahead and am scheduled for the install on Monday. I've been on the Dish HD Absolute package for over two years. It was a great deal, but I'm looking forward to having my RSNs again. The only HD channel I'll miss is Travel and that's on the coming soon list, so I should...

    Thinking about the switch

Not necessarily true. I want two HD DVRs and a package that includes Vs. That means I have to subscribe to the America's 250 on Dish which is $62.99 + $10 HD + $6 DVR + $10 additional box = $88.99. On DirecTv, the Choice Xtra is $63.99 + $10 HD + $7 DVR + $5 additional box = $85.99. With the...

Anyone in Denver getting the HR24 on new install

They asked me about signing up for MRV when I placed my order. They were giving me a free HD DVR and free HD receiver and the MRV would be $3 (plus $5 box rental on box #2). I opted instead to pay $99 to upgrade to 2 HD DVRs as I like having the four possible recording tuners and not do the...
