    Hopper 3 Self-Activation

This is for an RV. DISH is clueless about them.

    Hopper 3 Self-Activation

I know DISH insists on doing initial Hopper 3 installs, but is it possible to buy a Hopper 3, wire it up, and install it yourself?

Pointing With A Super Buddy 29....Questions

Yeah, it can be that simple, but sometimes (especially when your aiming is in doubt), press ID to make sure sat 110 is 110 and so on. And, yes, those are really good signal strengths. Great meter.

Hopper 3 on pay as you go

Not necessarily. While a phone tech knew, the chat tech either didn't know or wouldn't tell me. Besides they might not order equipment from DISH.

    Suggestions for motorhome setup.

That's your experience, not mine. Dutch, direct experience is different from indirect. OP, from my experience, I don't suggest hanging a DPH42 off your 1000.4, but it is the easiest solution.

Let me put it another way . . . how often do you change locations and need to reacquire sats with your H3 & DPH42?

    Suggestions for motorhome setup.

From what I read, OP considered using his H3 & Joeys, three Wallys, a Hopper Duo, and two H3s. From my experience with a Hopper 3 in an RV, I would not suggest hanging a DPH42 from a tripod (nor mounting it flat on an RV roof for a Travler install). After working with a DPH42 for over a year in...

    Suggestions for motorhome setup.

For one H3, sure. But for two H3s you'll need 2 coax runs if you mount the DPH42 on the dish or 3 coax runs if you mount the DPH42 inside But I think you mean "Why bother buying a 1000.2 dish when I just have to hang a DPH42 switch from my already purchased 1000.4 dish?" For me, the former is...

    Suggestions for motorhome setup.

In my RV I have a H3 with two Joey 2.0s so pretty much much you want. Since wired Joeys use MoCA, crappy RG59 should be hunky dory as MoCA frequency requirements (650 - 875 MHz) were designed with bad wiring in mind. Here's how I did it (Note that I use a 1000.2 portable with DPH LNBFs so that...

I've been using a portable HughesNET Gen 5 system with a .98M dish for several months. My last speed tests averaged in the 6 Mbps range: HughesNET Gen 5 Evaluation 3 Results However, my "average" speed is all over the place but typically closer to 20 Mbps and never 50 Mbps unless I'm using one...

    Getting Two Hopper 3s

First, you hijacked my thread. Please start a new thread next time. Anyway . . . Have your H3 installed in your home, not your RV. Since you're adept at setting up a portable tripod, just get a DISH 1000.2 tripod with a DPH (Dish Hybrid Pro) LNBF. Check out DISH Depot...
