Anyone know what's up with Orby?

The website is still "there" it's just covered up by that overlay. All of their employees on linkedin shows them as still employed. All of their social media accounts are deleted, except for LinkedIn. Even their zendesk account is gone, orbytv.zendesk.com Either this company just stopped...

How do I ... explain ... oh god wat

Maybe I'll hang a chickn in front of the dish to prove it doesn't set things on fire :D

How do I ... explain ... oh god wat

Just to update everyone: the police never came knocking at my door, and I still have the satellite dish pointed in the same spot it was last night. I don't know if she was off her meds or what. Oh well, time to try and get RTN again. Maybe I'll put the dish on the back deck and see if I can...

How do I ... explain ... oh god wat

I put up a small 36" dish to see if I could receive RTN over the neighbors house. The dish is outside on the balcony mounted on a tripod (which is weighted down - no lag bolts allowed in a rented house!) Well, I pointed the dish ... and didn't get a whole lot. I thought I had enough clearance...

I'm Really Annoyed at Dish Network!

Because some clowns are still trying to use N2 cards to view those feeds. Since they've dropped N2 support, DN went ahead and put it in the clear. There's no sense in them keeping around the N2 technology just to encrypt one channel.

    Help w setup

If you really want to do it on one dish, you might want to consider getting the toroidal T-90. A 14 degree separation in the arc is going to take some special tweaking to work right on one dish.

    GATR Dish

It's a portable emergency communications satellite antenna. They're good mostly for data tx/rx and satellite phone in hard to reach areas. It's a brilliant design made for quick deployment in infrastructure-depleted areas. It works by having two halves: the first half is the "reflector" which...

    Semi-newb question?

I've only ever installed dishes at ground level. I'm considering installing a dish on a deck that's about 12 feet from ground level. Would the maximum object height calculation on dish pointer still be accurate, or could I add those few feet to the height total? In this case, I've just *barely*...

    ok, confession time

My biggest idiot moment came when I first started looking at free to air. I had a 30" dish and a receiver. I pointed the dish out of my windows "in the general direction" of the sat I wanted. Then I was left wondering why I wasn't getting anything. :what

More channels or better quality signal

I say get some more channels. I'm not really interested in what's on TV so much as what I can watch that everyone else doesn't have a clue exists. Unless we're talking RTN. In that case, I'd prefer that they upgrade from the current pringles can transmitter that they're using.

Pictures of Cable Company Dish Farm

Man, I remember taking a commercial prop plane from Midwest airlines. The flight landing we had was REALLY rough - nasty crosswinds and hail. You could *feel* the pilot jerk the controls back and forth as the plane got knocked around in the wind. It was one heck of a wild ride, but fun as all hell.

Pictures of Cable Company Dish Farm

Those prop planes are a blast to ride in :D Nice pics, too. I haven't seen a "proper" satellite farm in a while out here. The teleport around me has switched to this "all encompassing" satellite dish. Damn thing looks like it can receive every bird in the arc without many problems.

    6/12/09 D DAY!

I haven't used OTA in a while, but I'm curious as to what I can get on the digital channels here in NYC, so I went to Radio Shack today and asked the guy if they had any OTA antennas. He asked me what size television I had (because it's not the fact that I live in a friggin city that blocks...

    Adventures in Dish Hunting 2009

I like how they have razor wire around everything and yet the fence door can easily be broken up with a bolt cutter. Also, the wire is the type easily beaten by a thick blanket. They would've been better off just building a three story outhouse and sticking the dishes on top. facepalm.jpg

    How many FTA'ers?

So as my first post, this is going to seem pretty weird. I actually like those paid advertisements. Some of them are hilarious (the "Thunderstick" was full of great innuendo), while others are a great study in marketing techniques. Yeah ... ok, maybe it's time I picked up a Digicipher II unit...
