Well, I tried calling a different tech. Same result. This tech seems to think that there might be a problem with the drive. However, the previous tech had already arranged to ship a 211z. So, I'm going to disconnect the drive and wait for that receiver. Thanks again for the dialog/input.

He resent an authorization, but he didn't say if he sent a specific one for the EHD. I've disconnected the drive for now (w/o reformat). If you know of a specific tech at Dish who I can speak with, I'm willing to try in order to save my recordings

EHD = GREAT! PROGRAM PRICING = SUCKS! I turned a 211 into a dvr with a 1TB EHD when my locals became available on the EA in HD. The EHD/DVR functionality with no monthly fee (on the 211/211k) almost makes up for the exorbitant cost of programming.

You got that right! HBO is definitely not worth the cost! It's been a long time since I've seen any of the 'premium' channels in free preview, so I was kind of looking forward to the 'freeview'. I wound up dvr'ing 3 movies, which have already been on 'free' tv (but that I haven't seen in HD)...

If I'm not mistaken, history-I HD may be on a 'free-preview' depending upon your package. I think that preview goes until 7/7, so if it suddenly disappears, that's why.

I can't believe that anyone would worry about losing MSNBC if everything else in a different package works better for you.:confused:
