Well, I discovered yesterday that it's now available in N. Texas. It looks like most of the movies are $5.99. There are currently only 2 events, and they're both $9.99. There are other channels that have VOD, and those shows are free. OK... so I'm ready for all the "new" HD channels!!

I'm surprised that they're running spots pushing a feature that's not available in all markets. I also saw something that said they're going to have 150 HD channels by the end of the year. Everyone that believes that, raise your hand!! ;)

Not only did they have too many in a short period, the volume was cranked WAY up! I feed my sound through the receiver and have the volume on the TV turned all the way down. Even with the sound on the receive muted I STILL heard the announcement. What's the reason for that??? sbh

Wow! I must have been one of the fortunate few! I'm running HDMI between the 6416 and my plasma, and the optical out to the receiver. No probs! Of course, I did have to turn off the HDMI volume via the plasma's setup...

As I understand it, the real difference is that you're running on fiber between your house and the CO. It's not VOIP. You still have 911 service, you still pay the same tariffs. It's just a change in provider infrastructure.

I must have missed something. I've been using the optical out into my receiver all along (since January) and didn't know it was broken! (Yikes!) My Yamaha said it was receiving Dolby Digital and I could hear all 6 speakers... What did I miss?

Sorry for the late reply! Yes, I had the Comcast DVR, and I like this one better. Mostly because of the guide, but this one has a 160Gb drive instead of a 120. It seems to perform the same - maybe a little faster on the channel switch. I'm lovin' it!!

Happy dance followup It was a long day, but everything's installed. The tech called my install a "triple play". - installing voice, video, and data over fiber. I now have a 6416 and two 6400s - two out of three are working. The internet (15M) is working like a champ! Things to be aware...

You guys got manuals?!?!?!?!? I got no training, nothing, on the 6412. The installer hadn't ever seen optical audio, either! As it turns out, I knew more about how to set up the system than he did! sbh

I'm just biding my time with Comcast until Verizon comes out with their broadcast offering. They have the fiber in the ground in my neighborhood, and they're pushing the Internet service. I'm hoping they pick up the Voom 21 as part of their broadcast service!! sbh

From a marketing company hired by DirectTV. They said they knew I was a Voom customer and they had been authorized to make me a deal on Direct service. Unfortunately, it was just a message on my machine - I wasn't at home when they called. It would have been an interesting conversation...
