I am having DTV installed Thursday. My plan was to remove all the old cable boxes (all using HDMI) and get them the heck out of the way. Should make it easier for the installer to plug in the coax, power and HDMI in each room. The article advises against doing that.

my 211 will be here next week to replace the 811. Hope I don't have issues. The 811 was a nightmare when it first came out and now it works flawlessly. Just hope I don't go down that same road with the 211......having to wait patiently for software upgrades!

I can't answer your question but Dish told me last night that we are a month or two away from getting the locals in HD.

Ok guys. I turned off my box...no lights ever flashed or came on indicating a software download. Now the box will not turn on. Does this mean it is downloading or should I "reboot" the entire thing?

Do not use the back panel inputs on the back of the 811. I have tried them and the picture quality is terrible. Waste of time.

I have the 57" Kp57ws500 Sony and use a DVi cable (got mine on e-bay for $15). No problems on HD or SD using the 1080i setting. The TV WILL NOT let you use the Zoom/Wide modes set up this way. Use the 811's format button on your remote if you need to stretch the picture.

Just got out my water hose and hosed them down...they are WAY too high to get to otherwise.

I switched to the DVI cable and SD looks better on my Sony KP57ws500. Clearer and not dark. Ironically I did not see any improvement in HD, however HD looked fine with the component cables.
