    Rose among thorns...

I just found out that the sales department has recieved two calls from customers who want Dish Network, but only if Jason installs it. ;) They said if Jason doesn't install it, they don't want it. See? My reputation precedes me. :)

    Rose among thorns...

Well apparently Dr. Bob is a fan of the 'hit-and-run' mentality. Just get the customer to sign on the dotted line and then who cares what happens, you got the sale. I personally think that in this day and age people are tired of that and are alot smarter too. I'm not saying I do this kind of...

    Rose among thorns...

Well, like I said, companies need to look at the big picture. Right now E*'s contract is 18 months. Thats 1 1/2 years. Better to have a happy non-customer than a disgruntled customer who's locked into something they didn't want in the first place. Also, the only reason that customer even...

I blame it on the French. It's always the French. I tell my customers that the reason they have no line of sight is because of the French.

    Rose among thorns...

There ya go. You hit the nail on the head. In my opinion this is a market-driven lose-lose situation. The satellite companies are heading toward driving themselves into the ground. Customers know a good install and a good installer. When you take the time to address their needs and concerns...

    Rose among thorns...

Exactly! Residential satellite installation is turning into more like pizza delivery. But I do understand that companies probably aren't making all that much money from these installs like they used to. It's funny but I actually thought about a business where I would go to someone who was...

    Rose among thorns...

I just can't do it anymore. I've been working as a residential installer for about 5 years now and honestly, I don't like where I see the business going. Are there no more good satellite technicians? I drive around all day looking at random houses and think, 'Is this what we've become?'. I...

    Help! Dish500 all messed up

What you really need is a DPP Twin for your Dish 500 and a Dish 300 with a DP Single LNB. That is what you need, then you can connect your 61.5 directly into your Dish500. Also, I would check you cable too. A cheaper cable, bad barrel or kink/hole in the line can cause sporadic results.

    Re-Peak Dish 500

Well, if you don't have any type of sat-finder, find another person to watch the signal strength screen for you. Without loosening any bolts, get behind the dish and carefully put pressure on all four directions. (I wouldn't worry abut the skew.) Pull back on the top edge of the dish and see if...

    2 receiver 2 dish question

Well, in order for both your recievers to have all three sats you would need two SW21 switches or one DPP Twin. If you already have two 21 switches hooked up then maybe you should swap the lines and see if the problem jumps.

    Made Custom Mount & Question..

Of course. But his patio doors lead to a central 'common' area for all the tenants. He lives on the first floor, so he has no real boundary for his exclusive use. I wanted to do the job just because I wanted to make the spiffy mount *and* try and shoot a dish through a window. But... if I...

Will Dish make a Dish Pro Plus Quad LNBF??

All I want is a DPP34 switch. All the Superdish installs I do it would really come in handy.

    Made Custom Mount & Question..

Okay, so there's this guy whose landlord won't let him have his dish anywhere on the building. This guy is desperate to get dish. So he wants it in his apartment, shooting out his sliding glass doors. Mind you, this will be a 311 with a 121W Superdish. Now, I didn't want to have to bolt the...

    dp switch

This sounds like it could be a line problem. Make sure that the cable running from the DP34 switch to that reciever is in good condition with no kinks, cuts or barrels/splitters. If you do switch the ports on your recievers and the problem stays with the one reciever then it is definately...

    921 and 'the featureless reciever''...

Well, I'm a installer for an independent retailer. Of course I could call Dish and chat with technical support, but honestly most of the time I get some indian chick reading a flow chart. (No thanks.)

Exactly. "Your honor, DN's DVR is completely different than TiVO in one major way... TiVo works."

    pixalation problem

Like I said, if you dish is within line of sight of a road/driveway, chances are that someone is driving by with an older model radar detector and it's throwing off your FSS Satellite. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this same thing with all the 121 Super's in this area. It's crazy.

Thanks guys! I told the guy to leave the reciever on overnight and just turn his TV off.

    921 and 'the featureless reciever''...

I hooked up my first 921 for a customer today and had this problem: I ran a check switch, and then the 921 went directly to programming. No software download or anything. I get my programming but when I try to go the guide or record or do anything other than change channels, it says 'The...

    pixalation problem

I was thinking possible radar interference. Seen it before when cars go by with certain types of radar detectors that the superdishes will flake out.

    Belden 7916A RG6 Cable

Is your system properly grounded? Intermittent signal loss is usually a build-up of static electricity in your system.

    about DISH 322

Yeah, if you sign up for a Digital Home Advantage with no commitment, you could try it out and cancel at any time. But if your leaning toward not keeping it, don't get too crazy with drilling holes for the cables. ;)

    Is This Wiring Diagram Correct

Joe, As a former DN technician and a current independent installer, I can tell you that your diagram is correct. Just out of curiosity, what dish will you be installing? If it's a Dish 500, you could save cable and money by just running one RG6 cable to each receiver and use a DishPro Plus...
