    Based on when it was introduced, I'd say 2nd or 3rd gen. I just picked up a new Samsung ATSC tuner. OMG. It locks even the weakest signals instantaneously. I wish I had stopped f*ing with the 811 much sooner. The Samsung is using the 5th gen chipset.

    If you have moved the receiver or even anything in the room it could have caused interference. Try changing the position of the remote antenna in small increments. I had to finally make mine about 15° in order to get it to receive properly.

    I set the prefs to "ask my permission before updating." Last night it asked permission. I selected "cancel." So, does anyone know what the difference between declining ("no") the update and cancelling the update is? (This is on an 811 ....)

    If you connect the appropriate antenna to the (HD)TV, then of course you get HD locals provided your local broadcasters are sending out HD. If you output from the tv to the 522, or connect the antenna to the 522, you can't even tune HD channels on the 522. The 522 would not "pass through" HD...

    Well Jerry, my guide gets corrupted almost daily. This requires a reboot to fix. I have had this box 20 months, and with all the previous versions, the most I had to reboot was maybe once every 3 weeks. Now we're down to about every other day. Does that clarify "piece of crap" any better?

    I wish I had done the same as you. When I get home I am setting my box to "ask permission before installing." 2.89 is a piece of crap, keep it off your box as long as you possibly can !!
