The Hopper (and all DVR's) never really shuts all the way off. It just goes into a standby mode so that recordings can be made. You can feel safe letting it shut off. It won't impact recording.

I don't know why but I actually laugh out loud every time I see the Hopper called a Hooper. :)

I had this pop up again last night. Netflix not showing any 4K shows so I checked everything out. On wifi my H3 showed 91 mbps (on a 100/10 plan)down on the H3, which is right what I would expect, then went to the Netflix app and saw it showed 11.3 mbps down. Rebooted the H3 and instantly...

I've seen much the same thing. It's not been very consistent at all. I've had great luck for a few days at a time, then the next day Netflix will only show the HD versions and it's time for the H3 reboot which seems to fix the problem, at least for a few days.

You can check speed from the Netflix app as well. I have found that sometimes the app isn't reading my speed correctly and 4K shows only show as available in HD until I do a "red button reboot". Even when showing the 4K shows though the section that lists 4K shows exclusively is only there...
