    Slinging It on the 922

I don't know if it's related, but for the last two days, my 922 keeps dropping off my network. I sometimes watch on a computer in my bedroom and I never even had to configure the Slingplayer, it just found the 922. Now, it disconnects after a few seconds. I checked the broadband settings, and it...

Indie channel on 293 and 378???

A note about The Travel Channel...at one time LONG ago, The Travel Channel was almost like a shopping channel. It was owned by an airline I believe, and showed a lot of infomercials for resorts and vacation packages. This may explain its placement. Another explanation...it used to share an...

Is PBS Kids Sprout Coming to Dish Soon???

Huh? What happened to "The Hub"? The Hub | A New TV Network for Kids and Families, Coming 10.10.10.

    DISH Launches Palladia

I agree this stinks, but why does everyone thing Palladia is a Platinum channel? I haven't had DISH for about 6 months (thinking about coming back when I get out of my temp living situation) but Palladia was always a basic channel as long as I had HD (back to the Voom days). HDNet, HD Theater...

Smee! Don't talk me out of it, talk me out of it, Smee!

Assuming you mean content, not contexts...the specific issue is Centric and Logo. They are sold as HD-Only channels, but the channel provider does not yet provide an HD feed at all. They also did the same thing with WFN, but they now have a true HD feed. I would assume the same thing will...

EyeTV Sparks from Coax to USB

I'm not familiar with this product, but it could be a wiring problem in your home. I had a very strange problem on a circuit...I won't get into it, but it would do all sorts of strange things on anything with a DC converter. That includes sparking from an RF coax connection.

    Cartoon Network HD issues...

I've been having a lot of audio dropouts, but I haven't watched in a couple of weeks.

    Additions on December 16th

Hmmm. I haven't had cable in over a decade. There are more people in the Phoenix metro area than in the entire state of CT, so you'd think PHX would get everything too, but I have no idea how these companies operate these days.

    Additions on December 16th

Everywhere? I'm moving to Gilbert, AZ (ironically, there's a DISH uplink farm there) and I was going to stick with DISH, but it looks like Cox has been adding a lot of HD recently.

    Epix & Dish in Talks

The FIOS deal is unlike any other I've seen, assuming the reports are true. FIOS is paying them as if they were a basic channel (a small fee per subscriber), but selling it as a premium. Normally, premiums do a straight 50/50 or 60/40 split. FIOS is doing it as a gamble, betting they can sell...

    Epix & Dish in Talks

Well, assuming that is true (actually, even if it's not), then there is absolutely no point in posting "any news about Epix"? every day or two. If anyone actually had any news, don't you think they would just go ahead and post it here? This thread would be half the size without your unending...

    11/11/2009 Uplink Report

Just relax. Stuff changes package flags all the time. It's been there forever, and if you were supposed to be getting it, you probably would be. Every once in a while, DISH blows it and a bunch of people won't get something that was supposed to be turned on. You'll hear about it...don't worry.

So, if DISH rolls it out as a basic channel in a package you already have, you still won't watch? Makes sense

    Epix & Dish in Talks

Epix IS the three studios. It remains to be seen whether this will be stupid or genius. And Showtime won't have much else other than originals. Since Epix SHOULD wind up as a expanded basic channel on most systems, you could get just HBO and Starz and get almost all new movies. I really...

    Epix & Dish in Talks

You read the article, but did you watch the video? Greenberg never uses the term "rumor". For that matter, no one mentioned Dish either. He just says they are still in "advanced negotiations" with other providers. The "journalist" simply put her own spin on it for the written portion. The...

    10/28/2009 3:15pm - Uplink Activity Report - 119 changes

This is the most backward thing I've read in a while. Bandwidth is the #1 problem, and money has virtually nothing to do with it...at least not directly. In fact, with ANY HD simulcast channel that is already carried in SD, the carriage negotiations are almost all about bandwidth cost/benefit...

    Epix & Dish in Talks

Whoa...look at this FiOS TV Prices Epix At $9.99 - 2009-10-29 18:27:55 EDT | Multichannel News It says that FIOS is paying EPIX $1 per BASIC subscriber. So they need to hit 10% penetration to break even. It will be interesting to see how long this pricing model lasts. If they stick to their...

    Epix & Dish in Talks

Everything I've read indicated that it would not be sold separately. It's supposed to be sold as part of a tier. I would imagine FIOS is putting it in their movie tier, but I'm not sure. Remember, this is a totally different business model than any other premium. The majority of the programming...

You can expect any of them to come in "bunches" AMC/IFC/WE/Sundance- unlikely because of the lawsuit, but it would be a package deal. Also, probably Fuse, though they are under different management. BBC/ID E!/Style/G4 TCM/TruTV ...and so on.

Are Premium Movie Channels A Good Value?

It really depends on your viewing habits. We go to the movies a lot, but we rarely (almost never) rent anything. But we used to buy a lot of movies. Now, I just record them off the HD channels and keep them. EPIX could change the game too if it comes and comes in a basic package. All the movies...

The benefits of proper dish alignment

I get way more snow than that and it usually works. The trick is...does it work when it starts melting? That's when it gets dense. I find that it can snow all night with no problem...even Wildblue works fine. But an hour or two after the sun comes out, everything goes dead.
