    1.2 Prime Star

Thought I would post a few pictures of my last project, I have a 1.2 meter prime star dish that I have had for awhile so I thought I would experiment with a Sadoun DG-280. I took down one of my motorized 3ft dishes and took a old dish 500 mount and mounted it to ¾ inch ply wood. I didn’t have...

    Primestar salvage

rv1pop, the wood guy brought me the 1.2 m primestar dish today; it's missing the mounting bracket on the back. If you still want it, your more than welcome to it. The wood guy is going to try and find the bracket for it, if not I'm sure there is a solution for mounting it. Let me know if you...

    Primestar install

Thanks for the great replys, if it hadn't been for my friend and his creative idea on that stand I couldn't have pulled this off. That LOS really had me worried because I knew it would be close on the elevation, but thankfully it all worked out. Anole, I don't know about a poster boy but if you...

    Primestar install

I thought I would share the pics of the primestar dish install for my friend who was lucky enough to find this dish and save it. I installed this dish on top of a mountain, which has terrible LOS, I was able to shoot 83w and felt we had a pretty good shot at that sat. The problem was the...

    Primestar salvage

Had a surprise yesterday afternoon, the guy I'm going to setup the primestar for when he's ready stopped by and said I have something for you outside. I go outside and he has another 4ft primestar sitting there and says it yours, :) he got this one from a guy not to far from where he lives. The...

    Primestar salvage

I just got back from my friends property boy talk about remote but beautiful area; he doesn’t have any power up there and runs everything off solar panels and batteries. I shot his property with a compass and think I will be able to pull 83 w off but it will be really tight. I can get clear LOS...

    Primestar salvage

I know you wouldn't have any problem with the wind, I was just funning with you. I haven't had a chance to see the dish, I'm supposed to meet him sometime next week to survey the area with a compass. He lives 45 miles one way from me so it's a little drive, on a side note my wood guy brought me...

    Primestar salvage

With all the high winds you get down your way the dish would probably keep blowing down. I wouldn’t want to burden you with that problem; ;)if his LOS doesn’t pan out I think the dish would be much safer on my property. :D

    Primestar salvage

Here’s a picture of the bracket and 3 shots put together of his southern sky his girl friend sent me this morning. I had to laugh because he told me he had a decent view of the southern sky, it’s going to be fun trying to find a signal in all that mess.

    Primestar salvage

This is probably a dumb question but can I hook my sat meter up to either input on the factory LNB that came with this dish. I ordered a multi switch today so hopefully in the next week or two I can get up to his property and get him going.

LOL, I already made the mistake of telling him what a good find he made. I don't think he will part with it easily. :) Maybe if I lay a guilt trip on him he will part with it. :D

    Primestar salvage

Thanks turbosat, I've never worked with a primestar dish before so this will be a learning experience for me. My friend is pretty excited about getting into this hobby so he's off to a good start. :D Have a great day.

    Primestar salvage

Thanks for the reply, LOL I didn't think about swapping him one of my dishes. :) This dish will be stationary so is it pretty straight forward as far as setting it up? I haven't seen the dish up close so I'm not sure how the mounting braket will work. Thanks again.

    Primestar salvage

A friend of mine was clearing brush for the forest service up in the hills around here and stumbled on to this primestar dish. He has seen all my 36 inch dishes and says that this is bigger, so I'm assuming that this might be a 4ft dish. I have never seen a bracket like that before to hold a LNB...
