Help: 622 IR remote seems to die, then wake up

I have a problem with my ViP 622 that I have not seen addressed on these forums: It seems to need time to "warm up" before it accepts signals from an IR remote. The problem began a couple of years ago, when I first had problems with my IR remote for TV 1 - it would turn the ViP622 on, and...

    Euronews on Dish Network

I think the reason Euronews appears in two places (900 and 901) is that one is for the foreign language version that people who subscribe to international packages get. I subscribe to the Italian package, and for me, one channel(I forget which) has English audio and one has Italian audio. I used...

New mpg4 dish channels in HDLITE!

Unfortunately, I think you may be right. And in addition to all the HD LiLs, another factor will be the eventual switch of the "mainstream" cable/satellite channels to HD. As HD sets become common, and HD broadcast equipment cheaper and more widely available, I would think that channels like...

    625 Skipped all recordings

The exact same thing happened to me last night also - I noticed that the ViP 622 it hadn't recorded something at 10pm, checked and found all the timers gone, went into the guide and got the "data out of date" message, and then when I said ok to "update the guide," it finished in less than a...

    DC Local HD quality

DC OTA is better with the 622 also I agree with Riffjim, the DC HD LIL are looking pretty good, though still not as good as OTA. I like having the HD locals available via satellite though for the program guide, and so I can record more than one local program at a time, but when I have the...

Will the installer bring the 622 like they said

622 arrived separately, but no communication from Dish I got installed this past Saturday, and the 622 arrived via UPS three days early, on Wednesday. I ordered new service directly from Dish (I had been a Voom customer, but did not switch to Dish until the DVR became available). Dish did...

    VOOM gone OTA here

That is what I have long suspected. I live in an urban area and used to have various OTA reception problems with my old Hughes D* box. The Voom box is significantly better at pulling in reliable OTA reception for me. For what its worth, OTA on my Voom box is still working fine. I am a...

Voom Alive! --- 21 days & counting (post sale of Rainbow 1)

Voom still sending emails seeking new installs I just got an email from Voom, advertising the 3 rooms for $1 offer. "Sign up for VOOM now because this offer ends March 1."

    WorldCinema-HD: Fellini's Roma 7pm EST

Maybe because Amarcord is not an epic, and really belongs on 102, World Cinema? :-) Actually, it sounds very Fellini-esque. If he were alive, he would make a movie about this, with Marcello Mastroianni playing a Voom subscriber, pounding on his HDTV in frustration, trying to watch a movie...

Would you keep Voom on Jan. 1st if...

I would like to vote for the first and third options, but the poll only let me do one, so I voted for the first one. In other words, I will pay the new higher rate, but if they offered the option of keeping the old price if you sign a one-year contract, I would go for that deal because I am...

Low-quality OTA tuner in the voom?

I had PG info for OTA locals with D* The Voom Moto box pulls in more local OTA for me, more reliably and with more stabilty, than my Hughes D* box ever did. So I am speaking from experience. Have not tried the Samsung box, and don't want to buy another box. In fact, that was a key selling point...

What locals channels are you able to get with your antenna through Voom?

Sure, you can put me down as voting for Fox and also voting for "all major networks mapped but not others."

What locals channels are you able to get with your antenna through Voom?

I get all the network affiliates listed in the poll. I did not vote for "I get all and mapping is correct" because there are a few PAX and independent stations that I am mapped for but do not get, and I am mapped for a few things that are so far away I could not possibly get them. (Not that I...

Which Voom Channels Would You Get Rid Of?

i agree, I don't see the need for the "Music Choice" channels, or whatever they call them (852-885). I get satellite radio, which offers more choice in commercial-free music anyway. But I assume the music channels don't use up much bandwidth so it might not really save anything. The biggest...

    Washington D.C. Metro area Voomers

As Wasch points out, UPN20 has a weak signal. However, I receive it ok in Arlington, so I would be surprised if you cannot get it in DC. PBS (WETA -channel 26) broadcasts from Arlington, not DC. Still, the signal should be strong enough to receive it. Also, be aware that their HD broadcast...

    Washington D.C. Metro area Voomers

Definitely call Voom and tell them you are having problems with locals. They should be able to fix it. Even if the company that installed the system is not in business any more, they will send someone else. You should be able to get good reception of all the stations you mention in Wheaton --...

So what's next for 21 Exclusives?

I think we are on the same wavelength here, 1080i. Playhouse HD -- what a great idea! I don't get Ultra either. But Walter suggested that they use it to do bikini fashion shows -- good idea! "Honey, why don't we stay in tonight and watch something about fashion on tv.... Oh, look, Ultra has...

So what's next for 21 Exclusives?

I agree with 1 and 2, but not 3 and 4. 3 -- Moov is very different from the other two channels. I like Gallery pretty much as it is, though I would like to see more content obviously. Auction I never watch -- some of it is about art, but some of it isn't. I would not want to give up Gallery...

    ESPN Rant

Amen! Whats really annoying is, tennis can't be all that difficult to cover in HD. The court is smaller than most sports arenas, and it only takes a few cameras to cover a match. It has to be easier than baseball, football, or hockey, and a lot easier than golf, which needs tons of cameras...

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

If you are watching today, Nicko, maybe you could let us know if the coverage switches to HD when NBC picks it up this afternoon?

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

Whoa, I need to watch HDnews more often! I am not aware of any HD coverage. HDTV Magazine, which usually (but not always) seems to know, did not list it in HD, either on ESPN yesterday and today, or on NBC over the weekend. And it definitely was not HD on ESPN last night. Coverage of golf...

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

Exactly. Very little on ESPN-HD is actually in HD. Ditto for TNT-HD -- the only thing they have done so far in HD to my knowledge is basketball games. On the other hand, the Voom excusives, Discovery Channel HD, and (I think) Bravo, are always in HD.

U.S. Open LIVE Today on ESPN HD (but not HD)

Don't think so. HDTV magazine does not list it as such. And I watched the rerun of yesterday's coverage last night, and it was not HD. I won't be able to check until tonight. It wasn't bad as SD upconverts go. Its good that ESPNHD finally eliminated the stretch-o-vision.

Will US Open be in HD?

Thanks. The Masters coverage this year had more HD cams than they used the year before, which in turn was better than the year before that. I haven't watched as much of the regular tournaments, but it doesn't seem like they use as many HD cams as at the Masters. I agree, its good that CBS is at...

Will US Open be in HD?

ESPN and NBC are covering the US Open this weekend. I have not been able to find any information on whether they will be covering it in high definition. I assume that if they were, they would be advertising that fact, so I am guessing that they are not. And so far, to my knowledge CBS is the...
