    Retention offers are worse.

I ended up staying. They gave me an offer I could not refuse. The best idea is to put in a cancel order on the day the contract ends. Call them three days before will full intentions to go to Dish or whatever choices you have. If you have a good pay record that also means something. Rob

    Retention offers are worse.

I am thinking of leaving. They initially offered me $20.00 off per month. I think I can do better. I get everything but no NFL Sunday ticket or any of the big sports add on deals. Rob

Why are there still SD channels?

I realize that 15-16 yrs ago I was on the cutting edge of HDTV, having an HDTV when nobody had one. Now that we are in 2016, why does Direct TV or Dish carry any channels that are still broadcast in SD. This is something I just dont understand. We have about full deployment of HDTV and SD...

My savings with Directv so far

I think I am actually saving more than that with my switch from Dish. I was very unhappy with Dish previously when I discussed the upgrade to the Hopper with Sling. I had been a customer for many years with a full package getting literally everything. Over the years prices went up, they had...

Dish Customer Service Appalling-Glad I left

Many years ago when I signed up with Dish there was definitely a value proposition. Later they started to get HD and many people like me did not like the service from my cable company. Over the past few years I put up with their channel disputes with providers. I was paying for everything but...

Buying Hopper Equipment Instead of Contract?

I was just wondering myself since things were different in the past. On another note I cancelled and Dish mailed me the return boxes. I packed them and shipped them the next day. Today I got a nasty automated phone call telling me they will charge me for the receivers and such. I dare them to...

    Buying Genie Equiment Drectly?

I just signed up with Direct and have a Genie44 so this is not for me but I was wondering. Doesn't save an upgrading customer to buy the Genie equipment they want rather than paying the monthly equipment fee to Direct Tv. You can sell the used equipment in a few yrs if needed as well. Rob

Buying Hopper Equipment Instead of Contract?

I just left Dish after 13 yrs but I was wondering about this for others who are having issues with Dish regarding upgrades and such to the new Hopper. Isnt it cheaper for those customers to just buy the Hopper themselves and not sign a 24 month equipment agreement. Based on what Dish charges I...

    HD EXTRA PACK

I just signed with Direct. On my login it shows the channels but if you pick three month trial you see it trying to order a receiver for me even though I am all set. Those should be in the ultimate package anyway. There are a few channels I like-Palladia for one. Rob

My Direc tv Dilema- Stay or go?

My wife asked me about movie ratings. Doesn't seem to be on Direct guide. On Dish you see a star rating which actually isn't bad. I think she will have to look them up on imdb or something.

My Direc tv Dilema- Stay or go?

Did you have a contract? Don't feel bad. Those creeps at Dish were going to raise me another $10 a month. My parents even worse. They get nothing for 90 a month with Dish. I mean NOTHING! They don't even get basic HD channels with Dish. They get little more than the basic networks. My dad thinks...

My Direc tv Dilema- Stay or go?

I am a new Direct customer. I got the HR44 installed today. I had not idea this was the latest unit until the installer mentioned it. Goodbye Dish Network, hello Directv

Considering change from Dish to Direct

I got my install today and got the HR44. I just learned from the installer that this is the 2nd unit he has installed. It is a small unit. I was at my parents home and they had Dish for many yrs like myself. Their receiver blew out and Dish told me they were doing us a favor shipping another and...

    First HR44 on eBay

Other than the size of this unit is theis exactly the same as the HR34 Genie? I guess I got lucky. Those Dish 722 units were huge.

    First HR44 on eBay

I just got one of these (HR44) installed today at my house. This is my first install with Directv after being a long time Dish customers. They were raising me again and I was paying them a lot. Goodbye to Dish. It is a very small unit. I put an external hd to go to 2 tb on recording. Too bad the...

Thinking about coming back to dish from directv

I could not disagree with you more. I have been a 13+ year Dish customer. At one time they even offered a free month if you prepaid a yr in advance. ( I did that) I dont upgrade equipment much either (currently running 722 systems) I only have it on two tvs. The last go around Dish did not want...

My Direc tv Dilema- Stay or go?

The funny thing here for me is I can say the same thing for Dish Network. They didn't want to offer me a thing to upgrade to hopper a few months ago. Now they will do me a favor and only charge me $100 hopper with sling and an install charge for the new receiver. Goodbye to them. In two yrs they...

    DirecTV Sign Up

Dish Network uses off shore as well for many calls. BTW one of the great things about a DVR is the ability to pause programming and basically watch commercial free. You could record a few things or just pause and fast forward through the commercials. These days I think a DVR is an absolute must.

Dish or Direct TV ? which is better and why?

I have been a Dish customer for more than 13 years. I am one of those rare people that dont care about NFL. With that being said and completely candid I always felt Dish was really good at the tech aspects, like sling player integration etc. I also felt the overall bang for the buck channel and...

Hopper 2, too little, too late.

For me (I rarely upgrade) I am not paying the 200 they want to upgrade. I can save a bundle in my case to switch over to Direct TV. I figure I will save about $600 before getting started based on equipment and all sorts of promos. Rob

Where are the HD channels Dish?

This is what I am thinking. It is not 2005 anymore. I had HD originally via a very expensive Sony TV. We hooked it up and I got a huge antenna installed in my attic. I got a handful of networks in HD and most of the stuff was not in true HD anyway. Still looked good. It is 2013 and basically...

    Hopper/Joey deals for existing customer?

I wasnt happy with the offer they made me and I have been a very long term customer getting a full package. I rarely upgrade. The way it looks to me is that it makes far more sense to me to go to Direct Tv and get the free equipment and a ton of service credits and such. Between equipment...

    Hopping off the Hopper Zone?

I think the threads are popping up because I think it is something that seems to be ongoing in the business. I used to hear about customers who would go back and forth every few years with dish and direct. I never bothered with that. However I think now as we get more advanced with the equipment...

    Hopping off the Hopper Zone?

After being a Dish subscriber for 13+ years I am thinking of jumping ship. Looking at the new costs of the new Hopper to upgrade my 722K between the initial receiver cost on top of my current bill (Everything pack + locals + superstations) For many years I felt Dish was the best bang for the...
