7 (SD) chs now free (HD)

If you have an HR22 you don't need a new box, it's an HD DVR. Assuming of course you have an HD dish (slimline)

    HR44 and HR54 Together

They are not permitted, it's technical issues. Directv could probably overcome them with software changes but has chosen not to. And before anyone responds with incorrect info, I am one of the few people with experience of multiple genie servers on the same account (I actually had three for...

    Lost SWiM Connection message

The HR54 has a built-in power inserter so you don't need a separate one. Remove the p;ower inserter, maks sure the power pass connection from the HR54 goes to the dish, and see if the problem goes away.

do you have the correct swm splitter?

    rather odd picture quality issue

If your PQ on some channels is great but not on others its very unlikely to be your box. And by the way I suspect you are looking at the 101 transponders not 99 or 103.

Lower 48 DirecTV RV Antenna Coverage

remember unless you have a real RV account (which will give you the national feeds) you won't get any Directv locals when you move (I think your alaska locals are on a spotbeam on d11 or d14??)

No HD with Winegard and New Genie Wireless

If it's an SWM dish the power inserter IS required, unless the traveller provides it somehow which i doubt.

    Genie no Pause

This is a bug in the logic for the "ads in pause" function directv has been playing with for a while. I expect it will eventually get fixed.

    YPbPr

Almost certainly an HDCP issue. If you have a TV connected to the HDMI output, but switched off, the DVR will see this as an HDCP failure and so will suppress all the video outputs. Tthree ways to solve this. One, switch the TV on, as jcrandall says. Two, disconnect the HDMI-connected TV. And...

    Coax

Solid copper core has lower voltage drop so you should use it for any long run between the power inserter and the dish. Everywhere else, regular RG6 is fine.
  12. T

    YPbPr

This is a special Directv cable specifically designed to provide component video outputs. There's a very similr one that gives composite video outputs. Make sure you get the correct one!

    External Hard Drive

but remember an external drive REPLACES the internal drive, it does not add to the storage.

Dropping DTV soon, do they want the boxes back?

40mph is nothing if the dish is mounted correctly, into the roof studs. Here in TX we have 60-70mph winds often, and they don't affect my dish at all.

program doesn't record on HR 44

If it is an episode that has recorded recently it won't record even if its not on your disk and even if you set to record "all". It is considered a "duplicate" and duplicates can only be recorded manually. This has always been the rule.

    Russian channels service loss

No, she needs a new dish, and a new receiver. the channels are now on one of the "HD satellites", think it's 103. She needs the free MPG-2 "swap", just don't call it an upgrade.

    Genie Upgrade

something wrong here . The D10 won't work with swm. But the genie will work fine with that setup.

    Need help understanding mandatory upgrade..

Directv had previously announced that all MPEG-2 service will be shutdown. That means that ALL the OPs equipment will stop working, not just for locals. 101w will deliver "a popular selection of channels" in MPEG-4 (Directv's words, not mine). Looks like that conversion is being phased, locals...

    Need help understanding mandatory upgrade..

This post is horribly confused and the responses (from some of the posters here and from Directv) are just plain wrong. OK, as far as Directv is concerned, the OP has one account with one dish with four SD receivers. The free update to this (as slice 1900 says ) would be a single slimline dish...

    Error 771

There are videos on youtube showing you how to do this. You can't just wave the dish in the general direction of the satellityes and expect it to work.
