Direct TV New Install on Tuesday

That depends. If they use a dish with a SWM (single wire multiswitch) setup, then it only needs one wire for each receiver, including DVRs.

DISH Network Reports Second Quarter 2010 Financial Results

Wall Street analysts and weathermen have a nice job -- they can be totally wrong on a regular basis and people still will ask for their opinions. DISH Net: DirecTV: So analysts expected DishNet to gain 4 times as many new subscribers as DirecTV. So much for knowing what they are talking about.

DISH Network Reports Second Quarter 2010 Financial Results

Great explanation. I like it. Maybe the satellite TV companies should have the same regulation as cell phone companies: make them write in the contract that if there is a "material adverse change" that the customers must be released from their contract without early termination fees. This...

DISH Network Reports Second Quarter 2010 Financial Results

Now here's something ironic. Remember the big brou-ha-ha back in 2005 when Clark, Texas renamed itself DISH, Texas in exchange for 10 years of free DISH Network for everyone in town? At the time, DISH, TX had about 345 residents. Now (5 years later), they have 218. That means, in the 5 years...

DISH Network Reports Second Quarter 2010 Financial Results

As fun as that would be to claim, since the "next new quarter" began on July 1st, I highly doubt you are the "first sub loss of the next new quarter". At their current rate, you probably aren't even in the first 10,000 sub losses of the quarter. Maybe if you stayed with them until October 1...

Is there a reputable company, that can backup a VIP 722 to DVD

Since DVDs aren't HD, it appears that HD was not a condition of the OP.

Has Dish lost another teleco bundling partner?

Then that's the problem. With DirecTV's telco bundling partners, you still call DirecTV for customer service, including billing disputes, programming changes, equipment orders, etc. The only thing the telco does is print the DirecTV charges on their bill. If a DirecTV/Telco bundle customer...

Has Dish lost another teleco bundling partner?

If DishNet is excluding telco-bundled customers from promos that their non-bundled customers are eligible for, they have no one to blame but themselves. An easy fix: let all of your customers, bundled or not, be eligible for the promos.

Has Dish lost another teleco bundling partner?

Will that also include the new Frontier areas that until July 1st were Verizon areas? Or will Frontier keep DishNet in their original areas, and keep DirecTV in their new areas? I predict another change in the near future, just don't know which way they'll go.

Has Dish lost another teleco bundling partner?

DirecTV Says It Is New Satellite TV Partner For CenturyLink Does this leave any telco partners for DishNet?

Has Dish lost another teleco bundling partner?

I doubt their DishNet contract would allow that, but something similar happened in the opposite direction when AT&T (then, a DishNet partner) took over BellSouth (a DirecTV partner). You never know.

Has Dish lost another teleco bundling partner?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, CenturyLink goofed in the graphic. They show a DishNet receiver and remote in the ad for DirecTV service:

Will HD become the new free "standard"?

Does this mean I'll finally have to get rid of my 9-inch black-and-white TV?:cool:

Who can honor a promise made to me by a rep

Yes, but if the installation was done within the first 7 days, for example, you would have another 7 days to cancel after activation (total 14 days from the order date). In the states that allow it, anyway.

    Early cancelation fee

Dude, next time just link to it instead of copying the whole document. Also, read your own copy: They can't prevent you from installing it in your rental area, like your patio. They can prevent you from installing it in common areas or landlord-controlled areas like the roof. Unless the lease...

    Dish Payment Enforcement

And even after years on Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus' name was misspelled on her Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Apparently having a hit show doesn't translate to name recognition for some of them. Now that's amusing.

Swanni asking Dish and Direct TV customers to demand AMC HD

Swanni has the bad habit of assuming "how the satcasters are underestimating the interest" in anything that he happens to be interested in at the moment. He has yet to figure out that he's not all that important in the scheme of things. AMC? <yawn> Maybe back when AMC stood for something...

    Dish Payment Enforcement

What? Since when? These companies don't operate as charities. A little flexibility can go a long way in customer satisfaction and loyalty. But if there is no chance that the customer will be able to break the habit and start paying when expected, it makes better business...

    No HBO on demand???

Showtime/Viacom doesn't own their own cable company, so they need to play nice with as many carriers as they can. HBO is owned by Time Warner which, until recently, owned a cable company (Time Warner Cable, of course). HBO had a better bargaining position. Even though Time Warner Cable is now...

    Yet another commitment question

If you connect 2 HDTVs to one D* HD receiver, only 1 of them will actually show HD. The 2nd will be down-converted to SD, which would defeat the whole point since you already have an SD receiver on that TV.

Anyone else being billed 49.99$ for NFL ST?

    Oh, right. My mistake.

    30 day satisfaction guarantee

Unfortunately, no. The contract begins @ time of installation with little chance to back out. Under some circumstances they do let you cancel within 24 hours of activation, but that isn't an absolutely universal rule, either.
