vip622 using 4 external drives to a hub

My original post said a "non powered" hub, but if I'm using a switch it could be powered or non powered. Thanks for the info. I assume the connectors you are referring to are 4 of these and a cable connected from the back or front of the receiver to the I/O port such as This One. Next would...

vip622 using 4 external drives to a hub

I'm confused because I read on other posts that the receiver needed to be rebooted each time a new drive was connected, and another post said "a hub will not work with the 622 or 722." All who have successfully connected to a hub and changed drives without rebooting the receiver please post the...

vip622 using 4 external drives to a hub

I wanted to use a non-powered 4 port hub to connect 4 external drives to the vip622. I realize only one external drive can be powered on at a time, but does the receiver also have to be rebooted each time I change drives, or can I simply unplug one drive, and plug in the new one? Thanks

    External Drive Flaw VIP622 VIP722

Do you mean using a hub with a built in pushbutton switch that enables the user to select which output is active via a LED, or using multiple drives by manually unplugging and plugging back in the drive you want active? Also, I read in another thread the VIP622 or 722 has to be rebooted each...

    External Drive Flaw VIP622 VIP722

Yes I agree this is another equally frustrating problem that should be corrected asap. You must select "done" after watching a program on the external drive, then you get dumped back to the beginning of the list, and you have to manually scroll all the way through potentially hundreds of...

    External Drive Flaw VIP622 VIP722

The only alternative I know of would be to use separate drives to put like title episodes on, that way 200 episodes of a series could go on its own drive since the grouping feature is not going to be an option. My concern is that I can't connect the separate drives to a hub, and each drive...

    External Drive Flaw VIP622 VIP722

I apologize if someone has already addressed this problem, but for those of you who have been using an external drive for any length of time, you notice they forgot to include the Grouping feature. What a mess this has created for us-we have 387 listings to scroll through to find things, all...

Hooking up a DVD recorder to a 622

This is the Sony BDZ-S77, but the article did not include specific information about menus, just the price and that the picture quality was stunning in the 2 hr mode.

VIP 622 Running out of DVR Space

I'm searching for a way to add more space for HD recordings, or a way to archive the HD content (Concerts, Movies Etc) while preserving the HD format. So far it seems like the best method is to use two 622's since one cannot be modified by changing hard drives. Is it possible to connect two...

Hooking up a DVD recorder to a 622

I've found this Sony Blu-ray DVD recorder for $2595 but I don't know if it has English menus. Has anyone heard if it has?

Hooking up a DVD recorder to a 622

I agree if you are less than 3-4 meters from the display it would be more noticeable. My viewing distance is about 4 meters, and I think anyone would agree at that distance a 42" displaying 480 is going to look much better than a 65" displaying the same resolution. For some it may be an issue...

Hooking up a DVD recorder to a 622

If you have a 42" or smaller TV, then the 1080i vs 480p is probably not an issue. When you get in to the 60" + sizes, the last thing you want to do is lose the 1080i.

Hooking up a DVD recorder to a 622

This at least answers my question in part, but what about the HD programs? Using S Video will not work for anything HD, because I assume that in order to preserve the HD format you'd have to use either the component or hdmi output on the 622 connected to the recording device. I suppose the...

    622 and external hdd

25 HD hours is not enough space to store movies, concerts etc. I can already see space is going to be a problem and we've only been set up a few weeks. I've read on other posts about several people losing everything on their DVR during system updates, crashes etc, so in addition to having extra...
