My Unique Situation-What would you do?

OK, here's the latest. This morning, I get an update in my e-mail form our cable co. I guess I got lucky. As of August 1, we get ESPN2 HD and ESPNU added to our channel lineup. Additionally, the extra charge for the HD package goes away (to $0.00) and the HD-DVR goes down to $13 per month. All...

My Unique Situation-What would you do?

I am sure everyone has unique situations, but mine is definitely different. I live in a neighborhood that is huge. It has its own cable/internet/phone company whcih is part of your monthly HOA fees (which are expensive BTW). Service and picture quality is not bad and the Internet access SCREAMS...

    Should I switch to DirecTV?

If you liked the VooM channels, E* (Dish) is your only choice right now.

Anyone using an H20 with a Tivo?

I am considering coming back to D* and I will most likely get an HR-20 for one TV, but I have a 3 year agreement on one of my Tivos (2 years left). I wonder if anyone is using the SD outputs from an H20 to feed a Tivo and if the HD channels come in in proper aspect ratio and look good.

    How to get multiple HD-DVRs

I don't have a problem doing that, but how would I handle the order? Just do it all through Best Buy or CCity?

    How to get multiple HD-DVRs

How would you get D* on 3 TVs with 3 DVRs? I now have two cable HD DVRs and 1 Tivo. I am looking at going back to D* and just get 3 HD-DVRs. Can this be done/

Subscribe now or wait four days? Hmm...

Chalk me up in the same boat. I had D* for many years (1996-2002), but moved to a house with huge trees and lived with cable for 4 years. Now I am in a neighborhood with cable included in the monthly fees, but it really stinks and I want to go back to D*. Would you grab the current offer? Also...

    HD Channel qulity on TV2?

This is good info. just making sure it could happen. Back to the first question, is it a decent quality signal?

    HD Channel qulity on TV2?

Sorry Julien, but this I know to be partially wrong. True, all NTSC video is inherently 4:3. However, even widescreen anamorphic DVDs are actually 4:3. They are just squeezed into the 4:3 frame and then when broadcast on a widescreen TV, they appear to be true 16:9. The widescreen flag some...

    HD Channel qulity on TV2?

Confusion OK, does this have anything to do with single mode versus dual mode? Or, can you cycle through formats on TV2 using the "*" key? Do you have this control on TV2 like you do on TV1?

    HD Channel qulity on TV2?

You are sure of this? What happens with HD channels? Are they letterboxed? I am just trying to verify.

    HD Channel qulity on TV2?

As a former Voomer, I have finally decided to ditch my cable, even though it is isupposedly ncluded with my HOA fees. I can get Dish HD and the needed equipment for less than I am paying for my two HD cable boxes ($9.50/mo each), one HD DVR ($16.50/mo) and two pay channels (HBO/Showtime-...

    Networking Mulitple DVRs?

Can you point me in the direction of information on doing this? I have a whole house media distribution box in my basement that would definitely make my life easier if I could locate all boxes in one area. Are you still able to get stereo sound, etc?

    HD DVR Functionality

I am still probably going to pull the trigger. I'll have to be more careful about what I choose to record in HD.

    HD Receiver Question

Yes, this is exactly what I wanted to know. By the way, this also allows one to use a Tivo or Replay DVR with the receivers that do this and then see a decent and true 16:9 picture when viewing downconverted HD. It also allows you to record HD programs on DVD in true 16:9 format using a DVD...

    HD DVR Functionality

Any hope they'll ever add larger hard drives to the DVR? I, too added a SATA HDD to the 8300 and got used to having 70 hrs!

    HD Receiver Question

Can the Dish HD recievers output an "anamorphic" image over composite or s-video in 480i? Those of you that had Voom will understand what I am asking. The Voom reciever would output a "squished" (sorry for the technical terminology) version of the HD channels over the component and s-video...

    HD DVR Functionality

I recently moved and have had D* HD with the Tivo HD DVR and then Charter Communications HD Service with the Sci Atl 8300 HD DVR in the past. I also had Voom while it lasted as a stand alone service. I am considering Dish this time and wanted to know how the HD DVR stacks up against the two DVRs...

Dish HD DVR and "modulated" OTAs via cable

OK, here's a question for everyone. I had Voom along with my Charter cable for a year and really miss the Voom channels. I had thought about getting Dish with the Voom channels for a while, but since I can't get the HD OTA's where I live, I needed to keep Charter cable- I thought. So here's...

    Qustions on HD locals

Before I add Dish to my house, I need to ask a specific question on local HD channels. I assume that the Dish program guide (specifically the 942 DVR) integrates local OTA HD channels into the guide to allow you to record from them. My question is a bit more sticky. I cannot receive local HDs...

    Farewell Voom And Hello Charter

If you have the DVR, press the # button and you cycle through pillar box, stretch and zoom modes. On demand works on all boxes, even the DVR, but is SD only. Hope this helps.....

    Dish Expands High Definition Package

This is great, no matter who your provider is!!!!! I have never had E*, but certainly will now. However, it strikes me that this is great news no matter who you are if you are interested in HD. D* will most certainly have to follow suit or develop their own nets (with Fox, of course)...

To Voomers everywhere- What happened in parody

Most likely, HD-DVD will not be the "next great thing". To most people, DVD at 480P is a great leap over VHS. This and the convenience of the small DVD discs is what caused DVD to take off in the first place. However, DVD at 1080i will not be the giant leap forward. Here's my opinion why: 1...

Will Voom go out with a bang?

I wonder if Voom will do something like air the "best of" on all of the 21 channels leading up to shut down? It would be a great way to generate at least some good will. Maybe a final "message from Charles Dolan" to air at the last hour on HDNews that will let us know how they plan to keep...
