    As always (you'd think I'd learn), I should have checked here first. After re-booting, re-configuring, re-booting my router, pinging, etc, I concluded: "Hmm, it's on the network, but it's not connecting to Dish's servers". DOH! So yeah, same here in 19044.

    I called Dish, and have a Tech coming out 10/18. I was quoted $29.99. I'll post back with the results. If it can be properly tweaked for 30 bucks, it's more than worth it to me.

    In my case, I went with Dish because the startup costs were lower, and I felt like overall I saved a bit of money. But, as you stated, the monthly savings over Direct can't be much. It was more about the startup package.
