    Sub Channels

I am one of those unfortunate people that can't get OTA (or not much). Thanks to the folks on the OTA forum I was able to get one local CBS channel (although it isn't one of my Dish Locals) that is about 19 miles away with no subchannels. It took a whopper of a VHF antenna and a good pre-amp...

    Sub Channels

Does anyone know (or care to make a guess) as to whether Dish will ever offer sub-channels for customer's locals? The reason I ask is that we recently got one CW sub channel through Dish. I am too far away from my local providers to get any OTA reception, and I still don't get any MyTV...

    Signal Loss Issue

You guys were exactly right. The day after my last post the LNB went kaput. I hooked my cables into an old Dish 500 dish that I previously had so I could have some TV, and called my local installer. They said that with the storms it would be about a week before they could come out (we just...

    Signal Loss Issue

I have straight runs to both receivers - no switches. I did a test on both receivers. The 722 status was "Good". The 222 said "LNB Drift Detected" - 0x1c, 0xa4, 72(e-13). I unplugged/replugged both systems and ran check switch. The status of both receivers was the same as before with the...

    Signal Loss Issue

Thanks! I found the test you were talking about. It does indeed say that I have LNB Drift. What exactly does that mean?

    Signal Loss Issue

Are you talking about the switch test? I'll check it when I get home from work.

    Signal Loss Issue

I do; and I experienced this problem earlier on, and learned to switch between two satellite channels to fix the problem. This problem is very similar, but it happens when switching between satellite channels; usually 61.5 and 72. No I haven't tested the system since it seems to work...

    Signal Loss Issue

I have a Dish 722k receiver and a 222k receiver. Everything works fine on the 722k, but the 222k keeps giving me an error message saying Complete Signal Loss every time I change channels. If I hit the cancel button, the channel comes up and plays fine. I've checked all the cabling, and when I...

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I know. I really like the setup I have now, but I really like some of the AMC shows. Short of switching to Direct, does anyone know of other options I may have for watching AMC? Local cable carriers don't carry AMC, and I don't qualify for U-verse or other similar options.

    Dish at 61.5/72/77

We recently had about a foot of wet snow, and my Dish 1000 kinda acted like a birdbath collecting snow. On my old Dish 500 the snow just slid right off because of low angle, but the 1000 is pointed at such an angle that it collects everything that hits it. I tried the usual tricks like PAM and...

    East vs West - Quality

I used to have a Dish 500 system with 322 receivers, and the SD quality was fairly good on 110/119. I now have a 722 and 222, with the HD package at 61.5/72/77, and the SD channel quality seems to be less than what I previously had. Is this just my imagination, or is there really a difference?

    DVR FWD/Back

Ah... the skip FWD. It does work pretty good. I was referring to the normal FWD. It goes so fast that I can't stop it where I want to.

    DVR FWD/Back

I really like most of the features on my 722 DVR, but I have a question about the FWD/Back speed. When pressing the FWD button it goes at 4X minimum. This makes it difficult to skip through commercials and stop where the program picks up. Is there a way to move forward at a slower speed?

722 sluggishness, will it ever end?

I just experienced the sluggishness today for the first time. Almost a 10 second delay between hitting the guide button and a response from the receiver. Almost makes it unusable.

    DVR Default

Is there any way to have a DVR recording default to Once rather than New Programs? Most of the time I don't want to record multiple episodes. Its no big deal, but I was just wondering.

    DVR Problem

I've had a couple DVD recorders with hard drives that allowed you to do a file system check and optimize the drive. I wonder why Dish DVRs don't have this option. If they are built on Linux, it shouldn't be too hard.

    DVR Problem

It could be a bad sector, but the receiver is just 2 weeks old. I adjusted tv2 so the previous channel was not OTA, and I just recorded Castle for a test. The whole thing recorded fine. I guess I'll keep an eye on it to see if there are any other problems.

    DVR Problem

After doing some digging, I think I may have found the reason. I was recording on Tv2 which was previously tuned to an OTA channel. I've been having problems with the partial signal loss issue concerning OTA. Could this be the problem?

    DVR Problem

No. Actually I already watched it while it was recording. My wife wanted to watch it tonight, and I'm getting this problem. After the message "Done with Playback" when it goes back to the DVR screen, it has the option to watch Live TV. I found this odd too.

    DVR Problem

I recorded Hell on Wheels last night on AMC, and when I started the playback today it said that it recorded 1hour and 4 minutes. 5 minutes into playback the DVR said playback done and went back to the main screen. I tried it several times, and always the same thing. Any ideas?

    Problem with UHF remote

Thanks Zach, those directions seem to have worked. I can't believe that they don't put those directions in the manual.

    Problem with UHF remote

Is there a way to change the UHF channel on the remote? I can't remember exactly on which screen I saw the number, but when I programmed the old 322 remote the channel number was 1. On the new remote it was 9. I'm not sure what these numbers represent, but the old remote performed much better...

    Problem with UHF remote

If upgrading to HD was going to be this much trouble, I'd stay with SD. First I had a signal problem that I had to fix myself, now my UHF remote won't work right at night. It works fine during the day, but at night its hit or miss. Does anyone know of a reason this might happen. I don't...

    Can I switch dishes?

I decided not to go with Dish in Whitesburg. They wouldn't let me take the Lex. channels. Direct was a little more accommodating. This was an upgrade to my existing Dish account. It is in an area that gets Lex.

    Can I switch dishes?

I got to thinking that their alignment might be off. I went out and tweaked the dish and I got about a 10 point gain in quality across the board. USA SD (TP 18 on 61.5) was getting a fluctuating 40; now its a solid 51. USA HD (TP 13 on 72) went from 50 to 59. Locals on 77 went from 52 to 61...
