    DVR Replacement

I must say, I'm impressed with the quick turn-around. I talked to a CSR via text chat on Monday, arranged for a replacement 722k, and it arrived today, two days later. Did the stack thing with moving the cables, and the new unit was set up in less than an hour. Now I just have to drop the...

    DVR Replacement

Haha, I was nice, so now let's see if they ding me the $15 on my bill. BTW, my service is bundled with my phone company (AT&T), so the first rep didn't have complete access to my account and sent my chat session to a different person. Don't know if that made any difference.

    DVR Replacement

My mistake, my box is a 722, not a 622. And that is what they said they will ship to me.

    DVR Replacement

I don't know how sweet I was over the chat session, but they did not ask me for my credit card # for shipping. Maybe they will add it to my monthly bill? Then I added the extra sports package for $7/month.

    DVR Replacement

Right, well if it's a simple box swap-out, I can handle it myself. My question was as to if there was a local dealer where I could pick up the new box and drop off the old one. It sounds like this won't be the case. So unless I learn how and where I can get the new box locally, I'll contact...

    DVR Replacement

Makes sense, but the guy that came out must work for someone local. This was over two years ago, can't remember.

    DVR Replacement

My last upgrade was from a 522, and so the tech had to come out and install a Super Dish and replace the receiver. So I don't really know the procedure for a do-it-myself job. Willing to try, just don't know where to start. Dish customer service wants to ship the box, but I want to see if I...

    DVR Replacement

My 622 hard drive has croaked. Dish will send me a new one for the $15 shipping fee. The fee is no big deal, but is it possible to get a replacement at a local Dish dealer? I don't see anything on their web site about this. Thanks! :usa2:

Old Reicevers, and shippin them back

Can a customer return a defective DVR to a local dealer for replacement, or do we need to go through the shipment with $15 charge procedure? Hmm, maybe I should start my own thread with this question... :facepalm

Any way to add additional locals?

You could request the Superstation Package, or just KTLA. They are currently a WB but will be part of the merged UPN-WB called CW. This is no help if you meant you're trying to get one of the big 3 networks.

Dish Network Going Out During Storms...

That's true, I doubt Comcast would provide them if they didn't have to. They generate zero revenue. The local government and public access channels here are interesting to me because they display traffic cameras in the morning and evening, and somehow I get a kick out of watching city council...

Dish Network Going Out During Storms...

There are a lot of reasons to choose one over the other, or have parts of both. In my case, I kept the most basic basic "lifeline" cable service (about $11/mo.) when I got Dish, because I wanted to keep the local government channels on the cable that Dish can't provide. They also give me some...

Dish Network Going Out During Storms...

Once during a warm summer day, I was working on my Polaris pool sweeper, a Mars-rover looking device with a water connection from the pump to power it, and the hose popped off and a fairly high powered stream of water shot out onto the roof, directly onto my Dish 500. My 522 was recording a...

    Can't find HBO special page

Heh, that's what they're hoping, that we'll upgrade and then forget about it or not be able to find the link. Sorta like rebate tricks, where they make it hard to get the proper paperwork to them in time, so we just blow it off.

    DVR625 - Record to DVD

Most likely it will degrade as it would be a second-generation copy, in addition to being regular video instead of S-video. You'd be better off using a computer's DVD burner with copying software, if you have access to one. It's worth a try, though. Make sure you use the highest resolution...

    DVR625 - Record to DVD

I have a similar set-up. My Dish-311 box is connected via its S-Video out to the front S-Video in of a Toshiba DVD recorder. The rear S-Video out of the recorder is connected to the S-Video in of the TV. It won't "pass through" when the DVD recorder is switched off, so to watch Dish with that...
