    I Destroyed my PocketDISH HD

Looks like I am SOL. I can't get my PC to recognize my unit when I hook it up. I dropped mine too. I wish I had known about that silly serial number issue sooner.... ARGHHHHH!!!

    I Destroyed my PocketDISH HD

Smith, P. - How do you back up your Archos system files? Do you have the steps you used to swap out your hard drive? Where did you get the little screwdriver to remove those special screws? Thanks!!

Welcome to the site!!! Have you contacted Dish, since this is their product?? Is it still under warranty? What does the file system look like when you connect it to Windows Explorer as a harddrive?

    archos av700 vs av700e?

You should be able to connect the PD to the 942 via the SVHS cable and video cables and just treat it like a vcr. Choose the program you want to record and set up the recording parameters on your PD. It's pretty simple to do.

New Archos Players On Sale At Office Depot

You can use the archos units with Dish. It would act like a vcr mostly. You just don't have all of the interactive features that a dish model would give you.

    PocketDish Firmware

Sorry, that's just my understanding of the "to go" services which is actually called 'PlaysForSure'. I can't use them since I only have a dinosaur pc with win98 on it and media player 7. Maybe if you check out the www.playsforsure.com website you can research your player to see if they can help.

    PocketDish Firmware

The "to go" services are supposedly those pcs with XP, or windows mediaplayer 10.

PocketDISH: Why must customers deal with Archos?

I am pretty sure that those early PD models will come down in price since Archos is set to release some pretty slick models later this year. I love my AV700 unit. I bought mine before Dish invested in them.

I don't know about that. I remember when the AV500 and av700 were available here, they were all selling at the MSRP, or above on ebay..

    iTunes plug-in for pocketDISH?

Well, i checked with Archos on that iTunes plugin. From what I understand this is supposed to work when you transfer an iTunes file from a MAC computer... go figure... so, it's not doing us Windows people any good...

Thoughts on the Pocket Dish AV402E

Yeah there is supposed to a turbocharged model coming out soon... Here are a couple of links to some things I ran across: http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=266 http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/05/archos-roadmap-reveals-wifi-dtv-and-3-5g-enabled-pmps/ I even found a link in the first...

Thoughts on the Pocket Dish AV402E

I don't know, but watching a movie on a screen the size of the back of my digital camera (for reference purposes since most people today do have one of those) versus watching it on a 7" inch screen doesn't even compare... Talk about squinting your eyes to watch a video...

New Sat guy in need of setup help!

So, on the diagram are you feeding the TV out signal from the splitter back up through the signal that is coming to the receiver via the diplexer?

    Running Cables

Well you could always remove the baseboard trim and cut a little hole there first. That way you can stick the trim up without having to patch the hole, if you aren't into the drywall fixing mode...

    Running Cables

I've seen people install PVC pipe and run it the length of the floor with openings at both ends. Then you just tie a string to a pretty good sized nut and stick a shop vac on the other end to pull it to you... Then you just tape the string to the cables and pull them through..

    PocketDish video inputs

I've downloaded quite a bit of stuff to my Archos and it really makes a difference if you up those recording variables on the setup screen.
