depends what you are mounting the STB to. my first thougt would be Velcro.

look for a used 8 10 or 12 foot dish. The good stuff is on C band. KU band is limited for english channels. I myself have 3 fixed KU dishes for News channels. one mini bud and a 10 foot C band dish. tell us what you and your family would want to watch. and you will get good advice on what to get.

Grab it. when at home take your time and see what it needs. if you need welding another option is auto repair shops, the shops that do frame repair. i have had some welding done from auto shops.

I had 1 like that. hit it with WD40 for a few weeks and pulled it out with a fine needle nose plyers. I use dielectric grease on the connectors now.

One thing I did with mine is open it up and remove the screen they have in the top. this thing runs very hot and the screen wont let the heat out.

I would try a different LNBF. Get a C Band only LNBF as the combo dont work too good for the mini- buds. I use the titanium C2W-PLL C-band LNBF Dual On my mini-bud @91W and works very good. http://www.titaniumsatellite.com/

Put a fender washer on the cracked mount, that should help. also check pvc pipe instead of the wood shim, i have used pvc for adapters and it works well. cheep and easy to cut.
