I have a DPP44 switch, 1000.4 dish, looking at 61.5/72 & 77 sats. It's definitely my locals that keep dropping out but also a few other channels like CNBC.

Ahhhh that explains why I was getting OTA channels were working yesterday but not today since they reboot overnight. Thanks, at least I know I wasn't imagining that it did work even when the sat signal is lost.

I think hers is an iPad2, it definitely has a 30pin connector. It may actually be easiest and cheapest to just buy her an inexpensive Android tablet dedicated just to the TV. In general I wish they made it easier to stream the programming we pay for to a TV. I do understand their reluctance...

I have an iMac that's about 1 years old running 10.8.4. So you are saying that anything I can watch on a browser I can watch via ATV? I can enlarge to full screen just like I do on the computer? I'd rather that go hardwired if possible.

There's so many videos that are 0n-line only, not just from Dish but from many other sources. I have a 722, a Mac, iPads, a Roku and a Marantz AVR, and some videos will play via Plex but most will not . Is there any possible way to play them all on a TV either with hardware or software?

Well I wound up ordering a refurb directly from Roku today since I didn't receive any offers that were worth taking here. FWIW, I have also owned a Vudu and AppleTV in the past and I prefer the Roku much more.

Just an FYI: if you subscribe to HBO and Cinemax through Dish, they have channels on the Roku that you can stream from (HBO GO & Max Go) which is a nice perk. Showtime has one also but it's a joke.
