I'm probably going to be quitting Dish soon. Two of the remotes I have (a 522 IR and a 301) have some dog-chewing marks on them. They work perfectly. If I return these to Dish, are they going to charge me for the damage? If so, how much? I want to know if it's worth it to pick up some cheap...

Wow. Another version. I'm guessing they are fixing bugs introduced the last release. I'm going to make an open suggestion to anyone from E* that might be reading. Establish a set group of beta testers so you can find these bugs before wide release. I'm sure you could get a decent size...

I actually prefer it that way. When it does the recording with one tuner (such as when the other tuner is tied up on another channel) you end up with the end of one show on next show's recording or vice versa. I don't really care that it recorded 3 minutes of the same thing. It's not that big...

Another bug I've noticed: The Schedule page doesn't show all skipped events. It shows some, but not all. I especially notice this on Wednesday nights. I had both West Wing and Alias recording from 9-10 and Good Eats from 10-10:30. The problem is that Alias usually runs past its scheduled...

You keep saying that the $250 is a fee for the privilege of renting the 942. DHA is a lease program. You wouldn't be renting at all. You are making a down payment on a lease.

I haven't noticed any more or less audio dropouts with 2.33, but I have noticed that they are no longer followed by a video glitch. I guess that's a small improvement.

I see the "upgrade fee" as being analogous to the down payment you put down to lease a car. Without the "upgrade fee" the lease payment would have to be much higher. What's the big deal?

The 522, 921, and 721 have PIP built in. You don't need to use the TV's PIP function at all. Actually, it would be a huge hassle to use the TV's PIP. I have a 522 and the PIP on my TV sits unused.

You are. :) "All/New" will catch those time slot changes just fine. The only thing it wouldn't catch was if the show moved to a different channel, but I can really think of an example of that happening.

I'm trying to understand why you would want this. The difference between a "All/New Episodes" recording and a Dish Pass is that the Dish Pass will look for that show on all channels where the other will only look on one. "New episodes" will only happen on a certain channel, so the first type...

As mentioned, you can use the 522's native PIP to do that in single mode. Just swap the 522 in one-for-one with one of your existing receivers. I was in the exact same situation and was able to get one. Here is a link to a post where I described what I did.

How exactly is the NBR software supposed to divine when the football game ended? The 522 and NBR have their faults, but you can't expect it to be magic.

But that won't make the TV1 remote that comes with the 522/322 into a UHF remote. It is IR only. You will have to get an extra UHF "TV2" remote. Then you can flip the key and make it work on TV1.

OK. I understand now about the remotes now. There is a huge difference in picture quality between AV and coax. Plus, as noted above, on a 322 there is no way to get stereo over coax. That right there would kill it for me.

Wait a second. You are planning to put a 322 in a closet? How will you get the TV1 IR remote signal to the receiver? Only the TV2 remote is UHF.
