I spent over $2K for my HDTV, but I have received about 4 years of trouble-free service from it. Slightly less than two years ago I spent $1K for a "state of the art" MPEG2 HD-DVR...the infamous 921. I think I have a right to complain a bit...and to be just a bit gun-shy.

I don't know whether right or wrong enters into this...but in my experience, it's not a good practice to try splitting a digital signal. Most likely this is the way to solve your problem...

Just for the record, I have a 921 and a Yamaha RX-V1. I experience the same problem as you. It's especially offensive when watching OTA network programming in DD, then when it shifts to local commercials......LOUD! I think it must be something in the way Dish receivers handle the DD signal. :(

I have had the "sync" issue...or whatever it was, but only every once in awhile. It only seemed to happen when I didn't really have time to do a reboot before the program I wanted to watch came on. I had it up to 4 days ago when I finally reconnected the component video connection. I don't know...
