I would pay a buck for a national PBS feed, as I used to when they had a national PBS SD feed. We watch PBS a fair amount, although the PQ has suffered now that they multicast (KCET Los Angeles).

I, surprisingly, have watched a fair amount of the Kung Fu channel. They have played a number of the Akira Kurasawa films, which are some of the best foreign films I've ever seen.

I'm east of LA (Whittier) and use an 18", think it used to be a D* dish. Its pointed pretty low on the horizon, but clears the house across the street so I get a signal.

I'm hoping that fttd like fios and 1080p sets will start making PQ a more widespread conversation. It may be a foolish hope.

There are lots of areas in LA that don't have a direct LOS to mt. wilson, and thus get rather poor reception bounced off another hill or building. I still think its a crappy idea to put HD locals on satellites, but spotbeams make them less wasteful.

I paid a grand for my 921. Buggy, old 921. Still using it, unable to get all the HD channels, because I'm too cheap to pay to lease.

I like a third choice - I currently pay $5 for the first 10 Voom channels. A decent price.

Shooting on film does not mean its in 16:9, although its much more likely than if it was on VTR.

You should totally go for the HD DVR. You know how having a DVR changes how you watch TV, you don't want to step back from that for viewing HD. I had to do that for some time between the lengthy time between the 6000 being released and the 921 being released. It was awful having to worry...

For the short time I messed with the channel 0 inputs, the picture was just awful. I hope mine was defective and that isn't the design.
