    211k jerky video

Unplug your unit from the wall for 1/2 hour. Plug it back in and see if that doesn't resolve the issue. BTW, Dish recommends that their receivers NOT be plugged into a surge suppressor but rather be plugged into a wall socket...

Vip622 with Bose Lifestyle v20.. slight problem

Although I am not trying to rain on your parade (OP) I must agree with the others here in saying that almost anything would sound better than that Bose system. A $400 Onkyo HTiB would really open up your mind and ears and allow you to hear all that you have been missing. I won't go on here but...

622 won't let me skip timers - sticks and reboots after a few minutes....

    HDMI slow death?

Since HDMI is problematic with Dish receivers, why not use component which gives the same picture quality but has none of the problems associated with HDMI and HDCP?

    Should i get HDMI???

It may not be better at all. Most people who I have helped hook up their ViP DVR's prefer component. Besides, HDMI has been shown to be problematic with Dish receivers and even the tiniest movement of the connector can disrupt/disable your connection/viewing.
