New Dish install: What do I need to get HDTV service for 5 HDTV's

Hello, a friend of my recently got a new house built & decided to use Dish as this was (they felt) the best deal at that time. She has 5 HDTV's & would like HDTV service at EACH location. As far as I can tell, this is what was told to Dish at time of order. What they got was on 722 & 2 other...

    Tnt HD Error??

I'm on D* but yesterday there was some kind of strange DRM testing. So has Turner decided that nobody can record any of the what little HD they actually show? Is this the no copy flag?

DIRECTV Could Team With EchoStar On HDTV

Well let me add my $0.02 to the latency thing. I was a 29Y (Yankee) Satellite Communications Equipment Repair for 10 years in the Army. Old Ford-Philco stuff desinged around 1978. I was in from 86 to 96. Now the equipment of today has gotten vastly smaller, quiter, & more efficient...

    AT&T/Bellsouth deal?

Well I signed up for D* via BS. This was having been on E* for 3 years & being just pissed (I am equally pissed at D* for HD Lite, but I will hold off... I guess being 5 years older my patience has grown) & if at&t tries to force me on E* then they can kiss where the sun don't shine :D

    Universal HD to Revamp Lineup

Well, I say thank God for this. Although I loved (first run) Rider as a teenager & still lust after an 81 Fireberd to this day, it needs to stay in the 80's. Now if we could only get the Law & Order cha.. err I mean TNT-HD to change into NG-HD then we'll be onto something :D

Turner South becomes SportsSouth on Oct.13

I have seen the Braves OTA here on 17.1. As a matter of fact, that is the only HD programming I have ever seen on 17.1 (although Seinfeld in 4X3 DD 2.0 is good :))

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

Yes this is the crutch. The so called "process" patent. I think they should be primae facia invalidated.

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

Sevenfeet, it is my understanding that for something to be patented it has to be non-trivial & novel. I agree with you, this is non-trivial but in your opinion do you think it is novel as well?

Updated: Court blocks Permanent Injuction ordering DISH DVRs disabled

Actually, there were lots of lawsuits at the beginning of the automobile business & as an aside, the Wright Brothers went through the same thing. The real difference now is that it used to be 17 years, now it is more or less indefinate patent protection.

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

Thanks Gary, #3 above explains alot. So my DSL is not going to be used for transport of video, but rather of information that will enhance my video watching experience, ie. super advanced guide, remote scheduling, mixing & matching of media, etc. while mainting the Satty as the transport...

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

Thanks Scott, that was just what I was looking for. At the bottom of the page you linked. With your super-fast DSL connection... So this gonna use my existing DSL connection huh. Before I call BS I have one more question. As I understand it, normal, live Dish programming would come...

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

So Scott, is this the box that is going to be used for project Lightspeed/Pronto? If it is prepared to be dissapointed with the actual real world results. Nevertheless, it seems the price, free (as not in beer) is right. At least Dish is trying. Once again, why am I & others (beyond fees)...

Quantity or Quality in Your HD channels?

I'm right there with you Brother. At this point in time, I think the Quality Queens are just barking up the wrong tree. (THis SOOOO reminds me of the 921 USB issue). Just like I posted in the AVS thread, I have taken to watching all sorts of stuff that I would normally never even think about...

President Of Dish Spoke The Truth

Yep, I suspect your wife & my girlfriend & her mother are alll the same in this aspect. As long as it's now something super obvious like snow or ghosting, 'good ole anolouge' is good enough. How will this ever change?

President Of Dish Spoke The Truth

Actually SD, all those reasons that you cite, are making BMW & Mercedes all kinds of money. Of course I have no way to prove this, but I bet you that at least half, if not more, of the subs wtih HD equipment got it just because, High Definition is the "in thing". I know two people right now...

    522 Dishin'it up promo details

Because I'm much more interested in having 2 seperate physical boxes. What's the point of having a device that can send 2 seperate channels to 2 places, that can not record 2 seperate programs at the same time. Well looks like I'll be investigating DirecTivo a little further. Also what is...
