    Not necessarily a cracked LNB. I've seen many cases where moisture will get into the connections of the LNB, and cause - for want of a better term - a short. Either way, the tech will probably replace the LNB. :D

    Yup, it's possible. On the 101 sat - which is the one you're going to want - you'll want a signal on transponders 1 and 2, at least. Try channels 490 and 491. They should read "Test 1 Sat (A) 101 ODD txp 13v" and "Test 2 Sat (A) 101 EVEN txp 18v." If not, then you gotta problem.

    Splitters Ack! Don't use a splitter for DVRs - you'll end up getting a "Searching For Satellite Signal on Sat in 1 and 2" message; splitters don't work with a DVR. They cause problems.
