Dish to Direct - Pros and Cons Plz Help

I switched from Dish a year ago when they dropped MLB. I have been happy with Direct. I liked the Dish equipment and interface a little better, but have not had any problems with Direct's equipment. I like the dual feeds on MLB that is being offered this year on Direct. I miss the...

    Is DTV Customer Service Outsourced?

I had Dish and was very unhappy with the call centers in India. Very hard to communicate and lots of dropped calls. I have had much better experience with Direct's customer service. I have never had a problem understanding any of the customer reps and they understand me.

    Thinking about switching

Jimbo, I have never used a TIVO, so I can't really say how the 622 compares to it. I imagine E* is trying to not be too much like TIVO as they have been fighting with them in the courts on patents.

    Thinking about switching

Of course you can get all channels, but I am only interested in the ones that I actually subscribe to. I found the 622 worked better in displaying this. Caller ID may work for you, but I found it doesn't work all the time for me. I see others are having problems, so it is a bug. I did not...

    Thinking about switching

I switched from E* to D* a few months ago. I had the VIP622. I now have the HR20. I prefered the VIP622, but he HR20 isn't bad. I understand that there have been some glitches. I had to do a reset on mine once which isn't bad. The caller ID doesn't work all the time and the "All Channels...

New customer but need to cancel DirecTV

I signed up for D* back in January and was told at that time I would have 30 days as a trial period and could cancel without penalty within those 30 days. I have been happy with D* so I didn't have to try out the 30 day escape clause.

    Comcast to Directv ????

The sports channels are in the expanded package and not included in the basic channels. I find for baseball, some of the Philly games are on 57 and that is carried by satellite and most of the Baltimore games are on Comcast Sports Net that is carried by satellite. I don't miss too many of the...

    Comcast to Directv ????

You would have to have separate wiring if you have both cable and satellite. Comcast does have the Philly sports and they don't share with satellite. If your teams are playing the Philly teams, the out of market package will block these out. It is the same with the Baltimore teams. I like...

    Comcast to Directv ????

I also live in Dover, Delaware. I just switched from Dish to Direct so I could be sure I can get MLB. I follow the Red Sox. I also have Comcast for the basic channels so I can get the Salisbury locals. With Direct you can only get the Philadelphia channels. You may want to consider the...

    FCC investigating MLB Deal

I hope the FCC will also look at the exclusivity that some cable companies have with the local teams, like Philadelphia and San Diego.

    Who has most channels?

I have had Dish for 8 years. I just switched to Direct this past week. My impressions are as follows: I like the VIP 622 better than the HR20 - 700. I have had to do a reboot already on the HR20, never had to do this on the 622 in the 9 months I had it. The 622 also has a 30 second skip...

Next installation date available... April 11

That is interesting. I am a new customer, I just switched from Dish. I called last Wednesday and they said they could have someone here that Friday. I actually scheduled for Saturday. No wait at all. I got a HD DVR and a regular HD receiver.

    Today's the day!

I just got D* today, also. I was pleasantly surprised with the installer. Usually the ones contracted through both E* and D* have not been good in the area that I live. My last episode with the E* installer was horrible. I had to pay someone to come in and fix what he did. There was no way...

Dealing with my 2 year contract

I hope I have made the right decision to switch. I am not thrilled with being required to have a 2 year commitment. A lot can happen in 2 years.

    EI Exclusive to D*?

My anger is at MLB for allowing this to be an exclusive package. I don't think it helps baseball in the long run. They should be reaching out and trying to build on their fan base. I am a big enough fan of an out of market team than I am actually making the switch to D* but I am not happy...

    EI Exclusive to D*?

It would be one thing if they were not willing to pay the price, but to only allow 1 carrier to have it is where I have an issue. It is the exclusive part that is wrong. This means many viewers lose out. Cable, FIOS and Dish viewers are not able to get it because it can't be offered to them.

    EI Exclusive to D*?

I don't think it is right that MLB can be exclusive to D* It is one thing if cable or E* choose not to carry it, but to not be allowed to is not right. There are going to be baseball fans that can't watch their favorite teams because they can't install a dish. I don't think it is a case of...
