Annoyed with wating for new HD

And competition is a good thing. But these moves don't include MLB Extra Innings HD or other sports offerings that are the most important factor for me (and I could live without Sunday Ticket). There's stuff out there that I wish DirecTV had in HD right now, sure. But they are easily the best...

There is a difference between lies and mistakes. There's mucho chaos at D* today, as expected. I have heard conflicting things from different employees there. I don't think any of them are lying.

Again, people are making assumptions about the real reason for the delay. Which may be correct, but we don't know. And there's definitely ill will among a vocal subset of customers -- but it is a small subset. Don't see how it is costing them a fortune

    Very dissapointed in D*

Well, it's probably unwise to make decisions based upon promises. As to E* outfoxing them...well, no (unless Charlie was able to sabotage the satellite, encoders, and/or D* billing/authorization systems).

    Very dissapointed in D*

    Indeed.

Well, we know that the satellite is not entirely fine, hence the press release about the spotbeam issues. Doubtful but not entirely out of the question that the delay is related to issues with the bird. I do think that on-the-ground issues are the cause -- either with the MPEG4 encoders or...

You assume that most people don't already do that? And the track record of the other providers is not spotless, either. What's your agenda?

DIRECTV is Home for 2007 MLB Postseason in HD

I'd say the bottom line is that the TBS-HD playoff games will be shown on DirecTV, via the TBS-HD channel in MPEG4 and/or the MPEG2 "special events" channels 94 or 95. If for some reason that doesn't happen, there will be reasons to complain and kvetch. But I am confident that we will see the...

    An Update

Don't think it would require much fast movement. Not really any different than putting any of the current MLB (or other sports) HD games up in MPEG2.

I do see HD Access on mine (9/14), but haven't seen the other $0.00 charges for Starz-HD, Sports-HD and similar that some folks have. Don't know what, if anything, it means.

    An Update

I'm not overly worried about the MLB playoff games. Worst case they could show the games in MPEG2 on 94 or 95. Hoping it won't come to that, of course.

    An Update

Yeah, you'd think that this would have been nailed down before the CSRs were authorized to give out a date...but unexpected things do happen. I'd rather that this is the cause than any technical issues with the bird or the encoders.

    An Update

Well, I know my account hasn't seen the new charges that others have...so there may be something to that. If so, I'm sure they'll get that resolved ASAP. I was wondering if they might be having problems with the MPEG4 encoders. I know that the HD locals here were very problematic early on. My...

RSN's HD no longer to be spot beamed ?

I believe it was a fluke. I'm in Lightning/Magic territory. While the Panthers/Heat games on 96 show up in the guide, they are blacked out for me...did catch one Panthers game there where they screwed up the blackout. Being a subscriber to League Pass/Center Ice doesn't stop the blackouts...

HR20 not playing recorded shows / not recording

That could explain some cases, but not all. Example: I recorded a basketball game Saturday...in fact, I watched most of it live, so I know the signal was there the whole time. I also know the other tuner was working, as I would switch to it during breaks. When I went back to play the game on...

    New HR20 User Question

It is not possible. While the HR20 has dual tuners, it doesn't have dual buffers like Tivo (at least currently).
  18. B

    Questions on the HR20

Yes. It's a matter of overlapping frequency ranges. You get 4 lines max from the dish. If you need more, you can use a multiswitch to get them...let D* know when you arrange for installation and it will be included.

    NFL network bowls in HD

I'm 99% certain the game will be on, regardless of the messy guide data.

    NFL network bowls in HD

The Texas Bowl is still in the guide for 95. The Insight Bowl appeared earlier but has disappeared. As usual guide data for 95 is a mess.

    NFL network bowls in HD

The Texas bowl on Thursday just appeared in my HR10 guide for channel 95.

Picture Quality on NFL Sunday Ticket

The Panny ED plasmas are superb performers with both SD and HD sources. No, it's not true HD, but the difference is really not noticeable past 8-10 feet. DirecTV's SD quality (especially for sports) is pretty awful these days, and indeed will look worse on any decent set than a good cable feed.

why not all nfl games in HD w/ SF

Dolphins game was not in HD, though it was broadcast OTA in widescreen SD (just as FOX does with regular season baseball).

OTA tuner to be enabled on Nov.. 1st?

If it was entirely simple, then the software update the Tivo wrote for the HR10-250 wouldn't be having the issues it is with some OTA feeds. ;)
