I'd be at $75.98/month with protection plan for the first 12 months and $108/month for the next 12 months. Any reason to go wireless mini genies? Not sure if the $100 up front cost is worth it.

I'm in Minneapolis, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. The dish tech is coming out tomorrow, so hopefully they can fix the issue. If not my wife will demand a change of service. I don't remember having issues with Directv, so that would be my next option.

I'm looking into an OTA antenna, I'd love to hook it up to my Hopper, but it's in the basement, so signal for an indoor antenna is horrible. I will probably just hook up the antenna to a TV upstairs and use a coaxial switch when needed. We also have a NOAA radio.

While I was talking to cutsomer service due to a weather related outage, happens a lot with Direct she had mentioned I might be able to upgrade early to a Genie at no additional charge. I'm not sure if I'd want to do that as that would mean another 2 year contract at the same cost or more...

I've had my EHD on my HR 24 500 for over a year and as of today it no longer shows in my recordings list. I've rebooted the ehd and also the HR 24 but no luck. The EHD sounds the same, but the HR 24 doesn't recognize it. Any tips.? By the way it's an external enclosure with a 1TB hard drive...

I'm debating cutting the cord in December and going Hulu PLus, Netflix and OTA antenna. $100+ a month just doesn't seem worth it anymore. All my sports are available by internet or OTA and between roku and my consoles I cna get most content anywhere.

How do you force an update? My current firmware has basically made my HR-24 -500 laggy and horrible to use. It locks up when scrolling through the guide, locks up when scrolling through the list and freezes when searching . i've been calling since July for a fix or a new box.

Still having the issues after calling Direct. They told me it should improve due to some nebulous info they were going to apply in a few days. So far the reception and hardware far worse than with Dish. This is not going to work if it's an ongoing issue for the next year.

I hadn't seen any threads on this, but I've experienced freezing on my hr24. It primarily happens when I search for programs, and it freezes/locks up for several minutes. I've also noticed ff slowdown and freezing when I've tried to bring up the program list. Resetting doesn't seem to help...

I'm finding a lot of my scheduled recordings at night are unable to be watched. I can't remember the exact error but it's saying something about lost data. Very frustrating. Any suggestions? I have an HR-24.
