They weren't all bad. I was one of the first adopters and mine worked perfectly until the day I sold it and replaced it with a D* HD DVR. The only thing I ever did to it was replace the cooling fan because the old one got too noisy.

Ditto to what Jimbo said. My HR20-700 has performed flawlessly. I had an HR10-250 before that and I prefer the HR20.

Try installing and aiming/peaking one of D*'s 5 LNB dishes up on a steeply pitched roof without a meter. Once you've done that and locked in 90+ on all 5 sats e-mail us back and tell us how easy you thought THAT was!

That's not correct. If you buy a used receiver that D* considers to have been "owned" at the time you bought it and there are no back due charges for PPVs, past due accounts, etc, etc. you can activate that receiver WITHOUT incurring a new 2 year committment. I've done 2 H20s myself within...

1. Make sure the units you are considering buying on EBay are actually owned and not leased units. A suprising amount of people think that just because they purchased the unit from BB, CC or wherever they "own" the unit. In D*'s opinion most recently obtained units are "leased" not "owned"...
