    Math nerd question

Do a search on the Dreambox. An open source linux based dvb receiver. I suppose you could upload a different algorithm for locating the satellites or create a module to do so but...... not real sure it would be worth the effort since usals works quite well for most people. :hatsoff:

    Pansat 3500S Setup

I believe the current passing limits for most of the 1.2 switches is .5 amps. Regular use may eventually burn it out but it should work. One of the gold sponsors posted a diagram of how to use 2 receivers to run one motor which required the switch befor the motor as well.

    Dead Pansat 3500SD

If you got the receiver for free then spending $25 for ready made jtag cable on ebay is still a deal.

Looking to buy or make folding 30" sat dish. Any ideas

Interesting..I've been tossing this very idea around in my head. I thought about using the back of a 1m dish to form a fiberglass skin, one cloth layer thick. My idea was to make a light weigh add-on for 76 cm dishes. The LNB arm would of course need to match the larger dish that was molded...

The SD card slot or USB port is a real nice addition that should become a standard in my book.

wild feeds & HD for KU

Yes you can use your FTA dish with the D* network receiver to get the programming instead of using their standard small dish. But if you subscribe I would have them install the standard one anyway since it's free..as a backup or to use wit PIP if you have a fancy TV. That is what I do with a...

    No signal on DirTV 1,2,4

Yes...I realize that to see anything I will connect it to my dirtv receiver.....but I shouldn't expect to see any quality at all on my fta setup? Just to tweak the aiming?

    No signal on DirTV 1,2,4

I've been thinking of using my FTA dish to watch some of the channels on my DTV sub because 2 "pros" and myself can't seem to get 101 tweaked in strong enough. Slight rain and even heavy clouds start to break the signal up. So, i go to my pansat and take a look at dirtv 1,2,4 and I get zero...

    ABC News Now on IA8 @ 89W

WHen I first scanned it in a while back it came in with good video and spotty audio but a recent rescan last week seemed to do the trick and now both are good. I didn't look at the numbers associated with the channel so I don;t know what changed but you might try it. :hatsoff:

Putting up my FTA satellite in the morning

Have someone push the button when you tell them to, to move the dish and watch the light on the motor when its fairly dark outside. Report back on the colors you see.

    Tracking Problem

AS u say the motor is clear to read so you know that's right for your location. DO not adjust the motor just the dish. It is hard to be gentle and precise when the dish wants to plop down I use two hands and my thumbs then when its right lock one side down real quick..but make real sure the...

    Tracking Problem

74W is very weak for me. It sounds like you are tracking pretty well but that your elevaton may be a tad off. By the time you get all the way over to 74W it is to far off to gather up a signal. If it was me I'd go back to true south or maybe one over that has a "weakish" signal and tweak the...

    Compass confussion..

Right , the 79W has nothing to do with where you point the compass. You calculate magnetic azimuth from zip. EDIT---I see Larry posted the same calculator...... SarFinder 4.3 is also very good and you can have them all right at hand since it is a stand alone program

    Signal quality vs. picture quality

Ok cool..the amps are usually rated at .5 amps passing current also...I wasn;t sure. I will be placing mine right at the receiver behind a 60 foot cable run.:hatsoff:

    Signal quality vs. picture quality

Good point. I think I'll give an amp a try. But I was wondering about how they will handle passing current. :hatsoff:
