I got interested in FTA truely for the wild feeds. It's really amazing to find tons of different feeds. you never know what will pop up. Plus it's a great way to compliment any paid tv package or just go OTA and FTA!

Go for the motorized dish right away. You won't be disappointed! Once you get the taste of FTA and lock on to one you will want to try your luck at other sats. It's so easy once you get the motorized install pointed!

where to begin? I read the Sadoun site up and down when I was preparing to install my first system. The most useful tool was the easy to read walkthroughs for setting up a motorized system...that and IceBerg's tip to blind scan even if you don't see a signal because most likely your sitting on...

RTN just plain rocks. I never heard of it before FTA.

Mine was about 10 or off too. That's what really got me when installing the dish! once I figured that out. found it right away.

forgive me for being a newbie but when you say polarity do you mean channel or voltage...so I could only see 12v or 18v channels?

I think this may be my last dish at least for a while. if I put another one up my wife might kill me. ;) That's pretty cool how you can chain receivers. I didn't know you could do that. Since I'm a newbie what advantage is a circular lnb vs a standard ku lnb? can you pick up special transponders?

I did!! Got my system up and running late Sat night. Spent most of Sat tinkering with it. Got my motor hooked up and locked in several birds before I passed out with exhastion. Between FTA and my newborn...no time left. ;)

It's a great feeling!! but it seems like I hit it with more luck than skill. ;) since it just started working. I highly think you should blindscan once your sat meter peeks out when your in the area of the sat. I was on a sat and it didn't even show a signal because the transponder wasn't active...

maybe I'm not using a live transponder. do you know a transponder for IA 5? a friend has a birddog meter you think that would work?

just dont understand it... meter screams and nothing on IA5. is the dish elevation setting on a fortec 36 inch in front or in back of the screw on the bottom with the indicators?

maybe that's my problem. should I ditch the signal meter and bring the tv out and watch the signal on the fortec reciever screen? you think if I have all my settings it wouldn't be hard to just swing the dish around until I get a signal (slowly of course so it picks up). I can't really do a...
