    What's your favorite Satellite?

If budget and LOS permits...how about a dish with a motor? That would get many more satellites while only using one dish and still would be able to be hidden. Personally I would find it hard to choose between just one or two satellites. Plus things have a tendency to move around.

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

I've run it with both the push buttons on the motor and the receiver with the same results. I'll have to dig up my voltmeter to see if I can test the voltage coming through the cable. The motor runs really well on the western side of the arc, it just seems to have trouble on the eastern side...

    List of English only channels?

Keep in mind some channels have different audio tracks available as well. There are a couple of Brazilian channels I watch that offer a English audio stream. Of course the commercials and such are still in Portuguese but I would say 90% of the programming has English audio. :)

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

I have had a horizontal TP selected. I even took a power inserter out to dish and hooked everything up so that the motor was getting 18v (I was thinking maybe my cable run was too long) and it still did the same thing. I've also tried putting the dish in different positions on the motor shaft...

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

I finally got around to replacing the screw in my DG380. Unfortunately it did not solve my problem. The motor still drives west and comes back with no problems, but it performs miserably when it goes east. It just refuses to go back west once it's moved about 20 degrees east of my true...

    AHHHGGG!! Stop that wrecking ball!

I experienced something similar on the way to work today. There's a really nice looking 10 foot dish that I've been eyeballing for the longest time...Today it was ripped up from the ground, concret on the end of the post and all, just laying there in the front lawn. I was really tempted to...

    Sonicview moves dish when off

My Sonicview used to do that before I took the "hack" firmware off of it. It just does that when it's trying to update the program guide, which is useless for FTA anyway. Try putting factory firmware on it and see if that stops it.

    Random act of kindness- FTA

That's kind of coincidental...I work at the VA hospital :)

    Random act of kindness- FTA

No problem, and keep your eyes open on the road trip, if you get to make one, too. You never know you might come across a nice dish even closer to home. :)

    Random act of kindness- FTA

Most of them are in fair to good condition. Only one that I've seen is in poor condition and that's the one at the dairy that looks like it got hit by a tractor. I've used Google Maps with Streetview to show the two dishes in Gainesville. The images aren't high resolution but it will give...

    Random act of kindness- FTA

I live in Bell, FL and the dishes are from my house to Gville...The Birdview is on the outskirts of Chiefland and I know of a couple of Paraclipses around Lake City. There are two dishes I have spotted in Gainesville, and there are at least 3 within 15 miles west of Gainesville. I don't go on...

    Random act of kindness- FTA

Well, I live about 40 miles west of Gainesville, FL and I know where there are about 15 c-band dishes within a 40 or so mile radius. There's even a Birdview among them. I only suspect one of actually being in use and there's one that appears as if a tractor has backed into it.

    Locking on 83W

What TP are you referring to? The feeds on there are pretty strong but RTV is weaker.

    Couple of install questions

Go to satellite position...go to reference on my SV-8000 doesn't usally do much of anything. In fact I think it just takes you back to your true south sat.

    NASA: STS-130 Launch

I didn't watch it on TV, but I stepped outside and got to see it go up. Kept a visual on it for about ten minutes before it finally went below the horizon. I'm about 200 miles from the launch site so it's not as spectacular as being there but still an interesting site.

    The wife factor.

Well, I am the wife, and I want the 12' dish. I think my husband's convinced I'm crazy anyway :D

    American Pickers Dish

I went on a cruise in the Carribean this summer. One the stops was on Grand Cayman. The hubby and I took a tour in a van...dishes everywhere and most of them C-band. I should have asked one one of the locals what all they were picking up on them. :)

    Many thanks to Sadoun Electronics

I've always had a good experience with Sadoun. For instance I just bought a motorized 1.2 meter dish setup from there in December. When assembling it I noticed the LNB support arms were missing. They shipped them to quickly, no questions asked. :)

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

The dish is fairly heavy. It is definitely a two person job to get it up on the motor shaft as it is awkward to lift by yourself. The dish without the floor mount is supposed to be 31lbs according to Sadoun's site.

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

I've read posts on this and other forums with others having similar problems but other than a screw that needed to be replaced I haven't seen any solutions. I just bought my motor in December so it should be new enough that it doesn't need the screw (at least you would think). I did try...

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

I've seen that post before, but it was before I was having this problem. I hadn't thought about flipping the bracket. I'll have to try that and see what happens.

DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter dish problems

I have a DG380 and FortecStar 1.2 meter combo that I purchased a few weeks ago. I've gotten it aligned and tracking the arch correctly but I'm having a problem with east and west movement of the dish. The motor is able to move the dish 50 degrees from my true south and still come back (any...

combine c-band G-box, and ku motor with switch

Numerous members here have tried to run a motorized KU and a GBOX/VBOX controlled C-band dish before, myself included. From what I've seen and experienced I don't think anyone has come up with a workable solution that would allow one receiver to control both. There is no way for the receiver...
