36 '' Geosat pro vs typical direct tv or dish network dish for ku

Most people trying to use the DN WA or EA dishes for FTA is to steal programming, Just a couple of strong satellite transponders can be received with those dishes. For the basic setup, at least go with a 90cm for some decent signals. If you can, get a 1.2 meter much more stuff can be received.

project: butter on a hot potato.

When I lived in an apt the management tried to get me to remove my 90cm dish, went down to the office with a copy of OTARD and told them to pound sand. Never heard about it again and I moved before I had a chance to put another 90cm dish up. The dish was kind of hidden on the balcony so it did...

project: butter on a hot potato.

Love the painted on Directv logo!. Keeps the nosy people away, they just think your a Directv customer. Very nice install and good job getting all those birds. It sucks for apartment dwellers to have multiple dishes.

New here, looking for equipment to buy

That's a good deal for the 120cm. Most of the time the shipping cost is more than the damn dish itself.

    SES-3 FCC Approved -- SES-3 Goes Live June 7th 2015

Give SES Americom a call and voice your concern and tell them to save our c-band. If the FCC takes the spectrum for Cell companies, then they will. There are other options for content delivery than c-band. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and just go with flow, remember it's just TV!.

Whats your number one fta station?

Oh yeah, my favorite FTA channel is PBS Create in the PBS mux at 125º. Our local PBS station does not carry that channel and even though it's SD only (no big deal) it airs many good cooking and home improvement shows. It's really handy when the local's are in a pledge break and most regular...

    Cost of a transponder

Can't believe it can be so expensive for a KU band transponder. I could understand a protected C-band would be pricey since there is not a "ton" of space available. I read an technical note from iHeart Media that stated a C-band transponder was cheaper than a KU one. Guess it's time to save...

    Cost of a transponder

Looks like some major changes for the 125W PBS feeds next year. Would not be surprised to see OETA go away once they finish their fiber connects to the various cities with transmitters. Dumping the C-Band public feed is definitely a possibility and may just happen. As long as they can keep...

Hobbyist Open Source Satellite Receiver - Raspberry Pi 2???

This project while interesting I think is just too time consuming and a money waster. The only really inexpensive part is the PI2. Today's STB's have all the bells & whistles one may need without waving to buy multiple parts, compile code or try using Linux. I applaud your effort but most...

    Which receiver to buy?

Go for the MicroHD, under $100 and works great!. Does have it's quirks but which one doesn't. Add an external HD and it's a DVR and I wished it had component out it has just HDMI and standard def out but it was not a deal killer. I think you will like it, shop around for the lowest price.

Looks like SatAv is having a sale

If you don't have something nice or informational to say, then stay out of the conversation. Completely rude and not needed. Ice was posting good information for people who don't have time to check all retailers for sales or specials. Don't need that attitude here, go to the other DBS site if...

    Used C-Band Dish

Don't think this dish will do well for those pesky DVB-S2 signals out there. This dish has been like that for at least 20 years loosing mesh panels along the way.

My Pansat 9200HD always reads S:25, Q:25 when aiming at 125W

Those Titanium PLL's really like the cold. -10 in Minneapolis, and my quality readings just keep going up, 85 to 89 Q on PBS 125ku. Maybe it will hit the high 90's when it's -25 below this week!
