New FTA service with 20 english channels

Maybe … I’m hoping … is that a crack I see in the dam? Could it really be a cam card capable FTA option in the US that’s reliable with 1M dish? I feel my wallet getting a little loose folks. With HBO testing the waters of IPTV … maybe … just maybe someone’s about ready to sell me the...

Give the consumers what they want.

Change can be terrifying…but maybe not… The real beauty of this concept is that the providers don’t have to change at all. Comparatively speaking very little investment is required to accomplish the realization of future growth. First, stop giving so much hardware away. The consumer could...

Give the consumers what they want.

One more thing... Oh yea…I almost forgot to mention it but if I’m not mistaken the one platform with the existing ability to offer the most bandwidth is where???? You guessed it…in the sky. :)

Give the consumers what they want.

You are right and I get my internet through the local phone company who recently laid fiber to my house. With it soon to be lit up my options will increase exponentially. With that said, I don’t want to see any of the current systems die so as I see it the best bet for continued viability for...

Give the consumers what they want.

The WWW will win the race...unless... With all of the delivery options I already have at my home including ATSC, cable, satellite, internet, and now fiber from the phone company, the only one that seems to be on the ball is the World Wide Web. Traditional provider schemes are definitely behind...

Give the consumers what they want.

I think that is quite possibly the ultimate future of media distribution anyway. Consumers are all about choices and to compete with the variety of delivery methods available right now some pretty significant changes are bound to be necessary.

Give the consumers what they want.

I doubt the effect would be quite as negative as that. We must remember that the terrestrial broadcaster has survived since the beginning of TV without any direct subscriber support until being offered through rebroadcast providers. Commercial ads are as prevalent on cable and satellite systems...

Give the consumers what they want.

With all of the complaining, lawsuits, and constant problems the providers have with the pirate community; why not give the consumers what they have been asking for the whole time? A short web search reveals a common gripe the “other camp” has always had; obscenely overpriced packaged...

    Dish for G10r

Yea my home is in MN I would like to get something in the 36" to 39" range but that takes more$ and with the bundle I dropped on the box my toy fund is getting low. A BUD will get me what I really want (the outdoor channel) but the wife doesn't like that idea and I doubt the neighbors would...

    New Firmware for Sonicview SV-8000HD

I think it was Main Menu > Settings > Event Timers if I remember correctly. Mine listed Event Reminders and I thought an Event Record setting that allowed a start time but no end time. I'm not at home so I cannot check it.

The right LNB for a motorized dish

Great Info I was trying to figure out how to set up the motor but all I found was to input the lat/long info for USALS. So tuning the Linear LNB at the dish's focal point and saving and then mounting the other LNB for xxx location and saving it's location the same as the focal point's...

The right LNB for a motorized dish

Used provider hardware I was thinking about using a motor and the stock linear LNB on a 105 Superdish, and then being able to also get whatever FTA is available with the circular LNB also.

The right LNB for a motorized dish

Thanks folks for the replies. I bought a HDTV PVR STB for the wife because she was looking at DVD recorders during the holidays, then I thought that maybe some FTA programming would be a nice bonus. Also I read that those PVR files could be burned to a dvd. I got my hands on an old 105...

    New Firmware for Sonicview SV-8000HD

PVR Timer recording and OTA channels Does the PVR timer record menu have better functionality? I seem to recall that the event record start / stop either wasnt there or didn't work. I got one of those boxes for the wife but haven't set up a dish yet, still deciding what 2 slap together...

The right LNB for a motorized dish

I read a thread somewhere about how a combo LNB wasn't as good as stand alone LNB's. Other than on a BUD how can 2 LNB's work on a motorized dish?
