    Openbox s11

If the size trend holds it's probably the size of a package of cigarettes too. ;-) Darn. I knew I should have waited to buy my S10. Now I won't have 16psk, for whatever real good that would do me.

Openbox S10 and DMX741 install. A couple of questions.

Hi folks. I just picked up an Openbox s10 and a DMX741. It is replacing a Geosatpro C2 and a Sonicview 8000 receiver. I have it hooked up with good results so far, though I miss a few of the features of the Sonicview to be honest, especially when trying to fine tune signals and being able to set...

Sponsors selling Openbox or Mangattan receivers?

Thanks! I just ordered the S10 from Hypermegasat. Good price too.

Sponsors selling Openbox or Mangattan receivers?

So who would be a reputable dealer selling the Openbox S10? My SV 8000 is showing signs of wearing out. I'd rather stay away from eBay having been burned a couple of times in the past, and I'd rather have an Openbox S10 than the re-badged S9 that Sadoun is selling . A cursory search on Google...

Trying to future proof a computer (at least for the next six months)

Hello all. I have an old dual core desktop that I am retiring, and thought I might buy a small form factor case for it and build a dedicated satellite receiver with Windows. I had a USB DVBWorld tuner that was less than stellar software-wise last year. It had trouble picking up anything HD when...

How Important is the STB Front Panel Display?

Anole has some excellent thoughts on the subject. If there is a display, I think it would be useful to have an indicator that lights up for each function. I'm thinking of something similar to the display on a stereo receiver, where different functions (words) would light up when active, S2...

    VBox vs GBox

I can't comment on the GBox, but I second pendragon's observation on the poor quality spring clips on the back of the VBox X. With mine, the spring clip connections are too weak to make a good connection and fall apart too easily. I tried finding a replacement at Radioshack, but no luck. So in...

    Sonicview 8000hd scanning problem

If I understand what you wrote up until this point, what you have done is the best that you can working without USALS. I never have been able to create a satellite on this receiver and have it work with USALS either. There was no obvious way to add the compass location at all. That is why I just...

    Sonicview 8000hd scanning problem

Once you save the position, scan the transponders that you entered. It will lock and then you should see the names of the channel it finds. When you exit it will ask you to save. After that, whenever you select that satellite from the the satellite list (the SAT button at the bottom of the...

    Sonicview 8000hd scanning problem

I did exactly the same thing, modified 84w. To save it, all you have to do is switch over to motor from USALS in the menu and then save the location in the motor menu once you have fine tuned. That way it always moves to the same spot, and it doesn't interfere with USALS. Sorry, I don't have the...

    Sonicview 8000hd scanning problem

I've never had that problem in the year and a half that I've had mine, however I did have something similar happen when I last reset my SV360 to factory default after moving the dish. The only way I could get it to stop was by overwriting the firmware with the factory file again. Another...

    Sonicview 8000hd Satellite update file

I agree with Mikey11, nothing new for this receiver in a long time. Shame really, I like mine. To add 83w I just renamed an adjacent sat, manually entered the TPs from the list and then used the signal quality and motor to locate the TPs. Not an optimal solution, but it works.

Is there any Philippine language programming up there?

Thanks all. She doesn't want to pay for the premium channels on the cable where they live. Apparently a big chunk of money for only one or two she is interested in. I had hoped there would be more up there, but some is better than none, and 97w has a lot of other interesting programming as well...

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and if we are including movies, all of the above and Scrooged.

Is there any Philippine language programming up there?

Does anyone know of any Philippines programming on KU? I've been looking around but have not found anything. My sister in law and I were talking about it over Thanksgiving, and I thought that if there was something up there (maybe 97w?), that I might set her up a dish for Christmas to get the...

what's up with MHz Worldview on 97W?

Yikes! I've been really enjoying Aussie rules the last two years. Collingswood and Geelong are excellent. Guess it's time to send an email. No cable here, so no more footie?

    sonicview

Hi. I've been using one for well over a year. Unlike the other posts so far I have had good luck with it. It has been reliable and my experience with the blind scan has been pretty good overall. I also have a Sonicview Premier (SD), and the tuner on the Premier is superior. The upshot is that...

Is Radio Shack hopeless for this hobby, or is it just mine?

That is very generous of you. Much better to say that than to respond to "Can I help you?" with "I doubt it".:) I have to say I did get a bit steamed when the guy started trying to tell me I probably wouldn't be able to find parts for old technology like C-band. It just seems to me counter to...

Is Radio Shack hopeless for this hobby, or is it just mine?

Short story about a local Radio Shack. I'm hooking my C-Band and KU dishes up to a single receiver. I read this could be done using a 22k switch and a combination of USALS and diseqc. So I run down to the local RS. Good sign I think when I see a satellite dish installation sign on the side of...

    6-Foot C/Ku Band Prime Focus Dish - Only $69.99!!!

Rod, Welcome!!! There is an incredible amount of accumulated knowledge on this board, and this deal makes the C-band end seem downright cheap. I lurked here for about three months myself before actually buying my first KU band setup last year. I got quite an education from the posts here while...

What do you use with your tv?

In addition to what was applicable above, other for me is a Compaq computer hooked up through the VGA port on the TV with audio to the receiver and controlled using a Gyration Air Mouse and keyboard. Good supplement to Netflix being able to surf to view streaming sources and use Tversity. That...

What s your primary receiver? Poll

Sonicview 8000 in the living room. Will be the main box until it burns out or someone comes up with an HD receiver that covers all formats and codecs. SV 360 Premier in the bedroom.

    TUFF TV now on 83.0W

Very frustrating. In my opinion this is what happens when people start treating a privilege as a right. Hopefully this reaction is simply to the individual and not a policy statement.

    Sv8000hd v.s. nfusion hd

I can't speak to the quality of the other receivers mentioned here, but I have had an SV8000 as my main receiver for about nine months now. Overall I have had pretty good luck with it as most of what I watch is PBS on 125 and a few others (Ebru, Al Jazeera, and Worldview) and not asked for...
