    Will PreAmp Help

A preamp may or may not help. They are intended to make up for signal losses in your cabling. I live in temecula, and I have NO problem receiving LA stations without a preamp. I used to use a Winegard HD-9095.... but then upgraded to a HD-8200 for the digitial conversion. You need to know...

Looking for a 100 mile HD UHF VHF Antenna

I would have to 2nd this opinion. I have this antenna, and I am over 70 miles from the trasmission antennas. I found that if I am only using one tuner, I did NOT need the preamp. When I introduced a few splitters, it needed to be pre-amped to overcome the losses. now I am using an...

    Antenna question

You may have some difficulty with a smaller antenna in an attic.. as a rule of thumb, you can expect to loose half of the signal by having it in the attic. That being said, I have a friend with an antenna in the attic, he is also about 30 miles out from the tx site, and he does receive...

    Can two antennas be combined?

Here is my experience. I am 70 miles away from the trasmitters in Los Angeles. I have a winegard HD-8200 I have my antenna 10' above the highest point on my roof. I am able to get every channel from L.A. with a Dishnetwork 622 signal strength of at least 75... with many at 100 (max)...

    OTA question

So attach a splitter to the output of your 622, and plug in the Attenna to that , and the lead to the TV2 this will provide the tv2 the signal from the antenna and the 622

    OTA question

OTA will only get you HD locals in your 2nd room, if your local stations are transmitting in HD and your 2nd room have a HD TV. The other option would be to run a component or HDMI cable from your receiver to your 2nd room. (don't forget the audio if you run component.) but this would...

    Can I improve signal strength?

To throw in another wrench, OTA tuners are different from one another (even within the same manufacturor. For example, I had a DishNetwork 811 that could NEVER tune in ABC As it turns out, I was receiving a multipath signal of ABC from a mountain that was off-axis from the tranmission...

    How to obtain better signal

1.) Check the orientation of the antenna, maybe it moved (down here in SoCal we just had a bad storm) (maybe some elemets have broken) 2.) Check the connectors & Cable

    Can I improve signal strength?

I have no problem receiving LA channels, and I am over 70 miles away! ABC is the weakest out of all of them Where are you located? We should be considered very lucky.... all of our channels transmit from the same location... and they are on tall towers on the top of a mountain. This means...

    Pre amp and distribution amp?

Sounds like the 622 tuner is the best on you have.. I would try to maximize this. Did you try hooking it the OTA to only the 622? Then use the coax output to distrubute to your house. This is what I did. I put a 510 and 622 in my living room. ( I hated hearing the 510 'spin up' every...

    Long Distance

I am 75 miles out from my transmission antennas on top of Mt Wilson in Los Angeles. (luckily they put their transmittors up really high) true.. elevation always helps, if you get an antenna high enough, you can get around any mountain! This is pretty easy to do. I installed my antenna...

    Long Distance

There may be antennas that get 100+ I just think that they would be HUGE. I once looked into getting a parabolic UHF antennna... until I noticed the size and weight! http://www.wade-antenna.com/Wade/uhfparabolic.pdf

    Pre amp and distribution amp?

As far a tuning an analog signal.. .the 622 only has a digital tuner :( So you will have to check this with your TV The 622 seems to have a good tuner, but you should try your TV directly as well to see who it deals with possible multi-path issues. My 622 was 100% better at tuning...

    Pre amp and distribution amp?

from what I found, your new antenna is a higher gain antenna, I would try it without the pre-amp and see what you get. Then if you need one, a low noise low gain pre-amp, and try that... then if you still need more.. move up to a high gain pre-amp. If none of the options work, then start...

    reception question

how much time did you spend pointing your antenna? maybe your could loose a few points on one to gain more on the one thats dropping out? can you get a less directional antenna, or perhaps a join-tenna and another antenna just for the other station? Of course it might be easier to...

    Digital signal strength??

I too have a Winegard HD9095 antenna, I am over 70 miles away from the stations. I do *NOT* need a preamp, in fact it just added to the noise! But I will add that I do get all the stations with 80 - 100 signal strength. Very rarely do I loose OTA signal.

    How far can you reach???

I can get Los Angeles signals which are 70+ Miles away. there is mixed terrain from here to there. I have a winegard 9095 with NO premamp My signal strengths are great!
