Looking for QUALITY UHF / VHF TV antenna

Another company that makes solid-bar antennas is SITCO, who's primary market is CATV/MATV operators. They make separate UHF, VHF-hi and VHF-lo broadband antennas ( Log Periodic Arrays ). They also make single-channel antennas, plus optional stacking versions ( CATV-MATV ). These antennas are...

    OTA Questions

Unless you are well above average terrain, I would not count on getting reliable reception at 100 miles, without spending big bucks. But I agree with Peano that the XG91 antenna with a Channel Master 7777 preamp is an excellent combination. Dish Network offers a "local only" option (my...

Need help again from all you Pro's

If you subscribe to either Dish Network or Directv, consider one of their HD receivers with an "OTA tuner" or they may call it an "ATSC tuner" (don't assume all satellite HD receivers automatically have "OTA/ATSC tuners" built-in).

Advice on a good UHF antenna for HDTV

In looking at the TV Fool output you attached, only WTAP is going to come in reliably with an indoor antenna, and the Antennas Direct DB4 is an excellent choice for indoor use. But the only way you will pick-up PBS (WOUB) is to spend a lot of money on an outdoor antenna and pre-amp. If you are...

    help for a beginner

I knew about WUOA-DT moving to channel 6, but I have a very low opinion of any station stupid enough to use VHF-Lo for DTV in the Southeast, considering the amount of lightning-laced thunderstorms we get (I'm 150 miles east of Elrod, AL). If WUOA-DT is important to "chathorne", he could use a...

    help for a beginner

I can tell by looking at the pictures that your antennas are very, very old. If you want good results, you need to replace them. I recommend that you start with Winegard HD 7694P High Definition VHF/UHF HDHD769 Series Antenna (HD7694P) | HD7694P [Winegard] and aim it towards Birmingham...

    Channel Master 7777

Ideally, the splitter should go between your TV's and the power supply ("out to TV" port). If you find it necessary to split between the pre-amp and the power supply, you need a "DC block" for the leg that goes to the TV without the power supply connection.

    Long Distance

One thing I forgot to add. If you aim the antenna at Louisville, you won't get Lexington and vice versa. You would need an antenna rotor to aim at each city. After analog shut-down, WHAS-DT moves to channel 11 and WBNA-DT stays on channel 8. One way to get some Louisville and Lexington...

    Long Distance

If you are not too close to WBKI Campbellsville, I recommend the following: 91XG (Antennas Direct 91XG UHF Antenna (91XG) | 91XG [Antennas Direct] | 91XG 91-XG 91 XG 91 GX xg91) for UHF; YA-1713 (Winegard YA-1713 Yagi TV Antenna Reception Aerial ProStar 1000 10 Element Off-Air VHF BroadBand...

    Just a thought

They had to give up channels 2-6 (in most cases---there are some exceptions). A fair amount of stations that transmit analog on channels 7-13, will return to those channels as digital after February, 2009.

    Best Antenna???

I recommend the 91XG. Because of its narrow beamwidth, it will reject multipath much better than the CM4228. I started with the Winegard 9095, had multipath problems, then tried the CM4228 which was a little better with multipath (but didn't eliminate it), then I installed the 91XG, which was...

    Recommendation for an in-line amp?

It sounds you are in a tough reception area. The 4228 does not do very well with multipath. I had one and replaced it with a 91XG (http://www.solidsignal.tv/prod_display.asp?PROD=AD-91XG). However, analog channel 10 won't look as good, but you may pick-up digital 10.1 (ch 32). If WTAJ is...

    Atlanta OTA 11-1

I have had no problems with Atlanta OTA 11-1, and get between 98-100% on my Dish 622. I live in Stone Mountain and use a separate VHF-Hi antenna. If you are trying to get 11-1 with a UHF-only antenna (i.e. Channel Master 4228), I think Cumming might be too far out for reliable VHF-Hi reception...

    Choosing the correct antenna

Rick is correct about the 91XG doing much better on the higher channels. I originally had the Channel Master 4228 and experienced a lot of drop-outs on DT channels 39 and 43 (ABC & UPN in Atlanta) from multi-path. Switching to the 91XG made a huge improvement (drop-outs are now rare). I...

    Choosing the correct antenna

I noticed you don't have an NBC. WESH-DT broadcasts on channel 11 and is 55 miles from your zip code. If you want to try to receive it, get the Delhi 10Y11S ( http://www.starkelectronic.com/vhf.htm ), which a 10-element Yagi cut for Channel 11. The Channel Master 7777 pre-amp has a split...

    Choosing the correct antenna

You would need a UHF-only antenna. The highest gain antenna is the 91XG (http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?PROD=AD-91XG). Many people like the Channel Master 4228 (http://www.warrenelectronics.com/antennas/4228.htm), but it has less gain. Your CBS station's HD signal is very...

    Choosing an OTA Antenna

I think you are going to need an outdoor VHF antenna for reliable reception of WHP-DT 4 (CBS). Antennas in the attic don't work well for VHF-lo (channels 2-6). You could try it in the attic first (antenna needs to be 7-ft away from any metal or foil, like HVAC ducts). Warren Electronics...

DT UHF Help needed - only 7.5 miles from towers

I think you are too close to the towers to use anything with a pre-amp. Here are some 4-bay UHF antennas to consider: http://www.antennasdirect.com/DB4_HDTV_antenna.html; http://www.winegard.com/offair/pdf/pr-4400.pdf; Channel Master 4221 - http://www.channelmaster.com/images/3021_4221.jpg...

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

Don't waste you money on a Radio Shack pre-amp. Get a Channel Master 7777 at Warren Electronics (http://www.warrenelectronics.com/antennas/7777.htm). The Radio Shacks have way too much noise. I only show WCFE-DT actually on the air with a DTV signal. The on-air dates for the others are...

    Can I add a 2nd OTA antenna?

http://www.starkelectronic.com/winp12.htm#TACO sells single-channel 3 antennas, which is your best bet for long distance reception. If the "70.3" in your post means 70.3 miles away, you will need the 10-element Taco (Jerrold) 10Y3S and it must be mounted outdoors, at least 8 feet above the...

    Can I add a 2nd OTA antenna?

You can add Channel 3 by buying a Winegard VF-3000. It combines Channel 3 from a separate antenna with the rest of your channels (for indoor use only). You can buy it at http://www.warrenelectronics.com It shouldn't cost more than $20, plus shipping.
